Today's Change (on Investing/Dashboard) does not match change to Net Worth

Windows Quicken Classic on a Win11 patched machine. This happens every market day:

  1. Take note of Net Worth in the left account list column.
  2. Run one step update after 5 PM.
  3. On the Investing / Dashboard, "Today's Change" is one (wrong) amount, call this $x.
  4. The prior day Net Worth has changed by a different (correct) amount, call this $y. (Step 1 minus what you see for Net Worth after the one step update).
  5. On the Investing tab, when viewing a "Portfolio" of all accounts and all securities, the amount shows the same (correct) amount as step #4 ($y).
  6. However $x does not equal $y.
  7. I checked that each setting has all investments/securities selected; nothing is hidden or separate. I have shut down Quicken and restarted; the amounts do not change.
  8. However, if I run a file validation or enter a new transaction in an investment account (not a bank account) then the Today's Change amount on the Dashboard DOES update to match the change in Net Worth ($y).

It seems reasonable that the One Step Update should refresh the calculations so that the amounts match without extra steps. Seems like a bug.

Anyone else experience this? Any ideas from the community or Quicken?

Thanks, in advance!

    Hello @AJS123,

Thank you for reaching out! To clarify, when you refer to the investing/dashboard, are you referring to the Dashboard tab under Investing? Is that the only place where you see an incorrect value (Today's Change)? If you're willing, please provide a screenshot of what you are seeing (with any personal information redacted). If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.

I look forward to your reply!

Hi Kristina, Yes, I am referring to the Dashboard tab under Investing. Sorry, don't want to post an image to a public forum. Yes, this is the only place I notice an incorrect value but I'll keep watch.

Today after the one step update, the Today's Change amount was significantly low. Then I ran a file validation. Change in Net Worth remained the same (correct) number before and after file validation. After file validation, the Today's Change amount correctly matched the change in Net Worth.

Thanks for your help on this.
