Can you purchase the software instead of paying monthly for Quicken? I bought the Quicken software years ago but my iMac crashed and we lost everything, even though it was supposably backed up to a hard drive.

While there used to be a "purchase" option that no longer exists beyond looking at sites like eBay for older programs that come on some sort of physical media. All current versions of classic Quicken are subscriptions.

While Quicken has moved to the subscription business, there is NO monthly fee, it is all annual. The monthly price cited on the website is purely for price comparison and to make it look cheaper.

You can pay for only one year and let the subscription lapse. The subscription gives you access to online services and the ability to download data into Quicken. After the subscription lapses (you have to turn off auto-renew in your account), it is all manual entry thereafter.

The cost? Losing about 20-25% of your screen for Quicken advertisement for their products. If you have a large screen, it may not be so bad.

BTW, what version of Quicken were you using before the loss?
