Random transactions disappear from previously reconciled months
We are running the most current subscription Quicken on a MacOS and are always good about updating when notified.
This causes us a lot of wasted time. Any insights would be greatly appreciated

Having missing transactions can be very unsettling and first order of business is to figure out what happened and how to correct it.
Are you seeing any discrepancy when you start a new reconciliation where the opening balance does not match what you expect? Or after reconciliation, Quicken telling you there needs to be an adjustment entry posted to reconcile?
Meanwhile, a tool that many are asking for that exists in QM2007 would make it SO easy to at least track down what periods are currently affected to simplify correcting the problem. You can add your VOTE to Track/store Prior Reconciled Statements/periods.
First, click on the underlined link above to go there, then click the little grey triangle under the VOTE count at the top of page 1 in the blue banner, so your vote will count for THIS feature and increase its visibility to the developers by seeking to have the features you need or desire end up in the latest version (it may take a moment for your vote to register).

The cause of a changing balance can be due to a transaction being deleted, the opposite side of a transfer being removed, or the status of a reconciled transaction being changed.
One way to try to track down the latter is to sort the register by the CLR columns (you need to make it visible if it is not currently; Columns settings) and look for older transactions that should be reconciled then you can change the reconciled flag for that transaction. Other than that, it is a brute force approach to track down where the discrepancy is by comparing the "period" by "period" balance against statements, etc. (no fun task).Have Questions? Downloads from your bank can't remove transactions from your register-only add.
The database powering Quicken for Mac is rather robust and fault tolerant, so I don't suspect database corruption, either. It could be, but I doubt it. So, let's not focus on that for now.
Mobile Sync, however, might be an issue as that could cause a mismatch between your desktop data and Cloud services. It's rare, but it can happen. If you suspect this is the case, I would get your desktop data error free, and then under Quicken:Preferences, choose the Connected Services button. Then choose the option to Reset Cloud data. This will force your desktop data to the Cloud:
Also, don't overlook that the transactions are simply getting deleted via user error. I'm not saying that is the case, but it is a possibility.0 -
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. We have Mobile Sync disabled.
I also appreciate the factor of human error, though we try to minimize any manual entry. We're just trying to use it to reconcile accounts from automated transaction downloads. If we need to manually edit anything it's because the automated reconciliation was missing transactions.
The gaps that we are experiencing are happening to months that were previously reconciled. This really shouldn't happen0 -
Hello @joshua-russo
Thank you for the response and providing some more details.
If you are still needing assistance with missing transactions, please navigate to the top of the Quicken screen hold the "Command" key on the keyboard and select the file name, this will show the file path.

Can you provide the file path that is shown here for your file?
Do you see any mention of iCloud, Dropbox, Onedrive or any cloud or network drive?
Let me know!

Here are both of the locations from each of our computers. Both of us have experienced the same problem.0

We're experiencing this when we start a new reconciliation1 -
So when you start a new one, you are seeing the starting balance differ?

We are. The starting balance is no longer the ending balance of the previously reconciled month.0
