How do I get the date to show in Quicken Deluxe 2017?

It looks to me like you're actually missing the check number column.
Select the Columns Gear on the top-right of the register below the search-field to open the columns dropdown list and check the box for "Check #" if it is not currently checked.

In that case-- @hawkje, you can drag and drop an image to your post instead, which will create a link we can click on to view the screenshot instead.

I couldn't do a screenshot. I am 87 years old and that's my only excuse.1 -
