@Ron Varley I suspect the people that have had problems with R39.23 and above didn't follow the instructions on how to recover from the problems in R39.17 and R39.21.  In other words, they had installed either R391.17 or R39.21, and it corrupted their data file, but then didn't restore back from a data file before these were installed, after installing R39.23.  R39.23 stops the corruption from happening but can't fix it if it has already happened.

You should be ok with the latest (40.93). I’ve been running since the fiasco, recovered and kept updating. It seems ok and validate works fine. YMMV.

The latest version as of 4/21 is R40.13, not 40.93.

I have been running R39.23 for about one month without any significant issues.

The most significant issue I have seen reported about R40.13 is screen flashing during One Step Update and quote updates, but I am holding off on installing that because it is not generally released yet and the changes described in the Release Notes are not important to me.

Yes, it is 40.13 - sorry for the typo.  I've run 39.23 for a long time before updating to 40.13.  Frankly, I see no negative difference between the two, the same foibles exist in both releases but nothing major.  I have not seen any screen flashing although for a long time now, it's known that Qucken will cause a black window when it's unable to update the window because of contention (happens rarely).  I'm not sure why you say it's not generally released yet, it was released in April and the Check for Updates menu command on the Help tab automatically picked it up on my installation.  I'm not setup for any beta or trial software downloads. The reason I say R40.13 is not generally released is that when I go the the Quicken for Windows > Product Releases and Announcements: Windows section of this forum, the announcement here
    https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7912173/windows-r40-xx-release-us#latest
says it is a "staged release". This means it is available if you want to download it, but it is only being pushed to a limited number of users.

Also when I go to Help > Check for Updates it says I have the latest version (R39.23).

Usually Quicken waits for several days with no significant issues before updating everyone's Check for updates information and the announcement, and pushing the update to to all users. Sometimes a monthly release goes through several iterations before being pushed to all users, as happened last month with R39.17, R39.21, and finally R39.23. You can see that sequence here
    https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7909593/windows-r39-xx-release-us

It appears that Quicken's main source for information about problems with a release is direct contacts to Support rather than reports posted to this forum.

My install of Quicken has shown an update for R40.13 from earlier this week. I'm not taking it until there is more info about its stability following the corrupt paycheck debacle.

I just updated to 39.23 after recent issues with paycheck and stuff, so my quicken says I have latest version. But I look at the latest release in the quicken website it is 40.23. https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-windows-release-notes Quicken is just getting worst and worst every day, after using is for 25 years now I am actively looking for alternatives.

@Umesh Patel I didn't get my update either. Quicken does a rolling release to prevent issues being so widespread. Microsoft does it and many software companies do. Although I don't think this changes that Quicken has many issues now.

Unfortunately, I assume the demand is dropping and so is their support. They also may have a talent issue since Quicken is not a startup anymore. But in general, I am still a big fan and it has helped me manage my money for over 25 years.

I am having the exact same problem. Does anyone have a detailed answer as to how to fix this? currently on R39.23 Build 27.1.39.23
