Hello @Ernest Seay,
Thank you for contacting the Quicken Community, though I do apologize that you are experiencing this error when trying to backup your Quicken file.If you don’t mind, could you please provide a screenshot of the error message you described receiving? If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.
I am looking forward to hearing your response!

- Validate and Repair File...
- Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 30 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
Super Validate: Click on
- File
- Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
- Supervalidate File

Are you able to backup the Quicken file to a folder on an internal drive and, if so, are you able to copy the Quicken file backup from the folder on the internal drive to the location on the USB stick?
If you are not able to backup the Quicken file to a folder on an internal drive, I suggest you restore a Quicken file backup. If you haven't already, you may want to review: https://help.quicken.com/display/WIN/Troubleshoot+a+damaged+Quicken+data+file
If you're not able to copy the Quicken file backup from the folder on the internal drive to the location on the USB stick, there is an issue with the USB stick unrelated to Quicken.
If you're able to copy the Quicken file backup from the folder on the internal drive to the location on the USB stick and haven't already, I suggest you reboot windows and attempt to backup the Quicken file to the USB stick from within Quicken again.0 -
@Ernest Seay The other reason why you might get that message is that there isn't enough room on the USB drive to hold the backup file.
