Message that one stock symbol is unable to download on One Step Update, BUT the price is updated.

Message that one stock symbol is unable to download on One Step Update, BUT the price is updated. Even unchecking the box to not download this particular symbol does not work. The box for download is unchecked but it still shows up in "One Step Update Summary" under "Services updated" as "809 of 810 quotes and investing headlines updated" . When you click on "See a report" it shows AT&T with the symbol T with the downloaded quote box checked. I uncheck the download quote box and run again. The same error message shows up with the box unchecked. BUT, the price is updated and still shows the error of only 809 of 810 quotes and investing headlines updated. I can't get rid of the 809 of 810 quotes updated and have it 810 out of 810. Is there a fix?

    Hello @quick20,

If you don’t mind, could you please provide a screenshot of the error message you described receiving? If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments. Please remember to redact any personal information as needed.

    Thanks!

This is a known issue. The error is correct - 1 of your 810 securities is failing to download quotes - but it is not AT&T. The error mistakenly reports the issue is with a one character ticker symbol.

Check your security list for other securities that don’t get price updates, like money market funds. Uncheck quotes downloads for any securities you no longer need price updates for. Given that you have 800+ securities, it will take some sleuthing to find the one problem security.

Thank you to everyone. I think that is the issue, it is not the single security symbol in this case "T", but another stock that is the issue that is causing "T" to show up as not being downloaded. Is there a systematic way to find the security that is the problem given there are over 800 securities?

@quick20 In that other thread I posted there were some ideas posted on how to track down this kind of problem. If click on the date it will take you to the actual full thread instead of just show that one comment.

A solution. A painstaking method, but it works if you are trying to track down the problem security that is not updating when you have over 800 securities (or just a high number) downloading. So, given that a single letter security is reported as an error in One Step Update and it is not in fact the "problem" security you have to track down which of the 800+ securities is the problem. Rather than unchecking each individual security and rerunning One Step Update over 800 times to see what security is not downloading and causing the error, logically group batches.

    1. In the Security List, uncheck downloaded securities, by logically grouped batches in my case I unchecked downloads of all the symbols that start with the letter "A".
    2. Run One Step Update
    3. If error still persists, in the Security List unchecked downloaded securities of all the symbols that start with the letter "B".
    4. Run One Step Update
    5. Continue progressing through the alphabet until the One Step Update download security error no longer shows up.
    6. Now you found the letter of the alphabet where the downloading error is occurring.
    7. Break that letter of the alphabet into smaller batches and Rerun One Step Update until you have found the exact problem symbol.

You would think Quicken would develop a program fix when One Step Update identifies a security as not downloading when in fact it is another security that is causing the error.
