Editing a Transaction causes it to be duplicated and overrides the next transaction

I have had the same problem for months. I can usually resolve it by doing a One Step Update for just that account. That work around still requires multiple updates at times in my bank account, because if I have to modify more than one entry, I have to straighten out the register before I can modify another entry. But at this point, I don't have time to sit on the phone with support. I sure hope they act on this soon.

I too have been having this problem, but only with the visa account. As I read these threads, I decided to turn off "pending transactions" which, as others have said, is a cool feature! Yes, the problem disappeared. Hope Quicken is quick to fix this bug so that I can once again see my pending transactions.

I'm bumping this as I'm having the same problem still. Hoping there is eventually a resolution that gets added to this thread.

    Hello All,

The team that is working on the issue is requesting additional information. Please provide a screenshot of the duplicated transaction that shows both the account register and the account bar. Please remember to redact personal information from the screenshot if you post it in this discussion. If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.

Please also provide the exact location of your Quicken file on your computer. One easy way to find this is in your Quicken program, click on the File menu option. Near the bottom of the list, Quicken will show the file location for your 4 most recently opened files. The one in the #1 position is the file you are currently in.

If you are not comfortable posting this information in this discussion, you can also send the information using the problem report in Quicken. Just go to Help>Report a Problem, include the file location in the description, and attach the screenshot (Note - The maximum allowed attachments is 10. You may need to unselect some of the pre-selected log files to make room to attach screenshots). If you send the information using report a problem, please post to this discussion so that we know you sent the information.

    Thank you!

    Quicken Kristina

This has been very helpful! At least I know I'm not crazy! So far instead of hitting the Enter Key after making changes to the entry I mouse button click the Green Save Folder! Fingers crossed, it's working so far but this really does need to be fixed 😕

My data file is in C:\Users\j99ha\Downloads\Quicken\Quicken files, i.e. a local drive, not synched to OneDrive. I am running R59.18 but this issue has been present for several months I think.

In an investing account, if I select a [edit - the last(?)] downloaded transaction, it appears in the Transaction List.

If I edit the transaction, changing the Memo for example, and then press the Enter key, it changes to Accepted in the Downloaded transactions area and the edited transaction is marked as cleared in the transaction list. So far so good.

But now there is a duplicate just below the transaction I just accepted.

If I hit the Enter button on the duplicate, nothing happens.

If I select an earlier transaction before hitting Enter, the duplicate disappears. Another workaround is to click on the Enter button at the right of the original transaction or Accept in the downloaded transactions area after editing the transaction rather than hitting the Enter key in the transaction list.

This is very confusing and did not work this way until recently.

In my cash accounts, I have usually found that the duplicate doesn't really affect the ending balance, and reconciling the account makes the duplicate disappear.

This very much looks to me like a display refresh problem.
After the new transaction has been entered and the display updates to show it in its new position, above the blue new transaction entry line, the screen should also refresh to show a blank new transaction entry line. This does not (not always?) happen.

The simplest and fastest way to trigger a screen refresh giving a blank new transaction entry line is (for me) to move the cursor up from the new entry line (where it's blinking in the Date field) using the keyboard ↑ (up arrow key) followed by the ↓ (down arrow key)

Sure would be nice if the programmers could get a handle on this … soon …

A big THANK YOU to whoever found a solution to quicken duplicating transactions whenever they are edited (and overwriting the next transaction in the process). I have to add memos and edit categories on a regular basis and thought I was losing my mind. Sorting transaction in decending order seems to have resolved that problem. Not sure WHY it suddenly became a problem, I've been a Quicken user for years…very odd.
