BindContent.Exe preventing Quicken from running
Answers

I think this has been answered (mostly)? As I mentioned before, I'm running Parallels on an Intel Mac and have the issue.
What we know —based on the reports in this thread— is that Quicken users running Parallels have the issue (both Intel and Apple Silicon, standard Windows and ARM), and Quicken users not on Parallels don't have the issue (including native Windows users and users running other VM software like Fusion).

For those who think this is a Quicken issue, I am getting the same issue running Quicken 2013 on Parallels with an M4.
Last year, I installed Parallels and Quicken 2013 on my M1 with no issues. Yesterday, I downloaded the latest Parallels and the same old Quicken 2013 (which also has a bindcontent.exe file dated 2012) and installed it on my M4 Mac running Sequoia 15.1.1 and I am getting the bindcontent.exe yes/no screen. If I choose "yes", then virtual machine will endlessly open and close quicken very quickly due to some error. If I click "no", the last Quicken file does NOT open automatically and if I manually select it, there will be a pop-up screen telling me that I have successfully installed Quicken 2013 (even though I already opened and closed Quicken a dozen times after the install. When I close out of that pop-out, another Product Registration screen comes up with "Register Now" or "Register Later". In the past, I would click "Register Now" and get stuck on another screen but once I terminate the application in Task Manager, the registration screen would no longer come up any longer. Now with the bindcontent issue, I keep seeing the "you have successfully installed Quicken" pop-up followed by the registration pop-up.
My Quicken 2013 has not changed so I don't see this as a Quicken issue. IMHO, this is either a Windows 11 issue or a Parallels issue. I called Parallels this morning and told them what I typed above. While they were aware of the issue current subscription Quicken owners have, my issue was news to them. They are looking into it they said.
I am a bit confused still after reading a bunch. If I bite the bullet and buy a Quicken subscription and run it natively on Mac, is this bindcontent issue still present?

Yours sounds like a different issue but definitely an annoying one. I'd recommend saving your data file (also a backup and maybe a validation), but remove the Quicken 2013 software and download a fresh copy of the most recent version (then use that to open the old data file).
Regarding Quicken for Mac… the bindcontent issue hasn't been reported there, but many of us on this forum have made at least one attempt to convert but the Mac version just isn't ready yet. If you're new to Quicken or don't use some of the more advanced features, it might be worth going with QMac though.

Quicken Mac (native I’ve for Mac) doesn’t have the issue because there are no .exe files on a Mac!

So this is weird.
I accidentally accepted an update for Quicken this morning— I blame exhaustion and lack of sleep from my side gig— and miraculously it worked! No UAE on BindContext.Exe, and Quicken shows as the latest version. But when I updated by test VM and re-installed Quicken, I still get the BindContext.Exe UAE and the application fails to load.

Just downloaded and installed Quicken with the new update and the problem is now gone; hallelujah!

Hate to rain on your parade but I'm using the latest version and the issue remains.

Which update was that? Please provide the version.

when was it released? Are you running apple silicon or intel based ?

Yep that's what I have…works on Fusion (all versions have) but still doesn't work on Parallels. Hopefully harker81 can provide a little more info.

Intel based.I don't see a date. Reading the following link and . It shows 59.6; also, 60.12 is available today.

wonder if I should try it. Running a very old version and it works. Like a 2023 realest date !

I can't find anything for 60.12 online, and when I check for updates in Quicken, it tells me 59.35 is the latest version. Has anyone been able to download 60.12 and if so where did you get it?

Hello @ifunlisted,
R60.12 is currently in staged release and not yet available to all users. You may have the opportunity to install it over the next few days, but if you don't see that chance, you should still be able to install it once it's released to everyone. For details on the release, please see this post:
Thank you!

When I started Quicken today, it asked if I wanted to install the update which is 60.14 HF1. Yesterday it installed version 60.12. All is now good from my end and I hope you all get this update soon.

Confirmed, Quicken Release R60.14 resolves the BindContent.EXE UAC issue - tested this version on both my MacBook Pro and Mac mini (both are running M4 Pro chips). For reference, I'm running Parallels 20.1.1 and Windows 11 Pro 24H2.
As an aside, I did reach out to Parallels support, but ultimately didn't get anywhere. Tier 2 support had me downgrade Parallels, first testing with 20.1.0 and then 19.4.1. The BindConent.EXE UAC issue remained in 20.1.0 and I was unable to downgrade to 19.4.1 as that version doesn't support the new M4 Pro chips/results in being unable to start the VM at all.
Kudos to the Quicken Dev team for resolving this!

For those of you who haven't received the release update, you can do it manually using the patch download. I just installed 60.14 and everything seems to be working great.

I can confirm that I was able to obtain 60.14 using the patch download and no longer encounter the BindContent issue.

I see that there is a new version that solves this problem.
I just tried to download Quicken from my account only to discover it failed (i.e., it had the Bind Content Problem).
How / where do I get the Canadian Equivalent of R60.14 to make sure the instal works?
Thank you.
PS. How does Quicken release software that cannot even be installed? This is awful, where is the Quality Control?

Created new VM in Parallels, installed Win11 Home 24H2 ARM. Clean install of Quicken Win 60.14. BindContent issue is gone. However I was intrigued by the free alternative to Parallels (VMWare fusion), but Parallels has much better Mac/Win integration, so staying with Parallels.

The answer I received from the team working on the issue is that they expect to have the update available for Canadian customers soon.
Thank you!

@Quicken Kristina I appreciate the response. Taht said, what does soon mean (i.e., in the next 24 to 48 hours), this week, etc.?

Thank you for your reply,
Unfortunately, our teams don't give ETAs. They told me they expect to roll out the update soon, but did not provide anything more concrete.
Sorry I can't give you a more solid timeframe!

@Quicken Kristina two quick follow ups:
- How am I supposed to know when it is fixed / updated?
- I am terribly frustrated by both the posting of an incorrect file for download and then taking one week to post the correct file. Where is the QC in all of this?
