Quicken Personal & Business Download Problems
I am building a new computer to have a clean / fresh build.
I have a Quicken Personal & Business Canadian subscriptions.
I logged into my Quicken account to download Quicken Personal & Business only to discover that the only download option was Quicken Classic, not what I need or want.
Please, tell me, how do I download Quicken Personal & Business?
Thank you.

Hello @JoelC,
Please be advised that all Quicken products are now called “Quicken Classic”. This was done to better distinguish the difference between Quicken and Quicken Simplifi as both are products provided by Quicken.
However, your subscription tier should remain the same, and I can see in our internal system that you do still have a Home and Business Canada subscription. Once you install the program, you can also very this by navigating to Help > About Quicken.
Hope this clarifies things!

@Quicken Anja appreciate the clarification.
One critical follow up: The version I downloaded could not be installed because of the BindContent.Exe bug. How do I get a Canadian version that can be installed?
Thank you.

Can you tell you us the exact version number you tried to install?
Thank you!

@Quicken Anja I wish I could but because I cannot install it there is no way for me to determine the version.

Where are you downloading the version you're trying to install from? Is it directly from within the Quicken program, or is it a Manual Patch from this support article?
Please confirm.

I am downloading the version from my "account page".
How can I get the patch to work when etc bas program does not download?

@JoelC Are you running QWin on a Mac, using a Win emulator?
Because that's the scenario that I'm aware of that encounters the BindContent.exe issue …. which is actually a flaw in the emulator not in Q itself.

I am frustrated!
I called Quicken to get assistance in installing QWin in Parallels on my MBP and discovered the Quicken has a serious versioning problem:
— On my current VM I am running QWin R59.9. When I check whether there is a newer version, I am told no, I have the latest version.
— On the Quicken.ca webpage the version of Quicken I downloaded and successfully installed is R60.15. A different version!
— On my Quicken Account webpage the version of Quicken that is available for download is different from that at Quicken.ca as it does not install. I cannot determine the version as I acannot get it to install.
I would like to think that to avoid customer frustration (as I have experienced over the last two days), to make sure customers always have the latest and greatest (after all. I am paying for a subscription) and to minimize the number of support calls Quicken woudl always make the latest version available for download EVERYWHERE!
Comments / thoughts encouraged and welcomed!
End of rant!

The upgrade from R59 to R60 (i.e., General Release) only happened late today. SO, depending upon the exact time that you checked it might not have been available. OR, it might have been available in Q US but not yet in Q Cda.

My understanding is that, although the Canadian version and the USA version now sport - eventually - the same version numbers, they do not necessarily get released to both countries at the same… if you follow me.

@Arctic Hare appreciate the information, very helpful especially that the CAD RXX.YY (will eventually) = USA RAA.BB! That said, I do think that all download / references sources should be updated before the switch is flipped. Just saying.
PS. I will check at the end of day tomorrow to see where QWin in my existing VM still thinks R59.9 is the most current. :)
PPS. Please do not misunderstand me. I am thrilled that I have successfully installed QWin in my new VM. And, so much so that I complete the Quicken survey and gave the help person the highest marks possible!

@JoelC I believe that @Arctic Hare has already answered this.

@NotACPA I have two Qwin installs on two different VMs. VM1 is R59.9 and QWin reports it as current (i.e, no upgrade available). VM2 is R60.15. The point being that VM1 is reporting R59.9 as teh most current when we know it is not.
I hope that clarifies things.

R60.16 would appear to be a "staged" release. It's R60.15 that's in General Release in the States.
In the R59 machine, have you done HELP, "Check for updates"? I'd think that doing such should update that version to R60.15
BTW, are the 2 Q products identical (other than R level)? Are the VM products identical. I'm grasping for anything that could explain the discrepancy. Are both product Q Cda?

R59.9 is the most current version presently available to Canadians. R60.x hasn't been released to Canadians yet. Or, if R60.x has been released to Canadians then it is staged release that isn't available to me yet. My system won't update beyond R59.9 at this time.
Based on some observations, it appears that the current version for Canada now always trails the current version for the USA by one or two releases. It seems that what Quicken is doing is implementing changes on the Canadian flavour after the USA version has been released; i.e. release version R60.16 to USA then make updates to R60.16 that are relevant to the Canadian version then when those updates are fully tested then release that version to Canada. Again, I'm making inferences here based on observations. The one thing that I can state as fact is that it appears that the USA is normally a release or two ahead of Canada.

@Arctic Hare As noted above:
- QWin on my old VM will not update beyond R59.9
- QWin on my ne VM which I downloaded from Quicken.ca is R60.15 per the below image.
I hope this is helpful!

@JoelC We've seen a number of cases where individuals have actually downloaded the USA app and it reports itself to be the Canadian Edition. I'm not saying that is for sure what happened here, but I find it interesting that you have downloaded a version that I can't access.
This page indicates that the current Canadian version is R59.9:
If I were to place a bet, I would bet that you somehow downloaded the most recent revision of the app that is intended for only for USA users. Sometimes Rx.y numbers have both CAD and USA applicability and some do not. Furthermore, I believe that the country edition is driven by something other than the app package. That is, I believe the app itself is country agnostic. I suspect it is your Quicken ID or something in your datafile that makes the app behave Canadian, eh! I believe the app takes on country specific characteristics as a result of some data element that the app reads.
Frankly, it is also just too much of a coincidence that your system is reporting the edition number of the latest USA release but there is no Mondo Patch or Release notes for that version # for Canadians. I don't recall a case where I've received an update but there were no release notes posted. Hence, I'm agreeing with you that there is something wacky going on here with configuration management. I suspect that you managed to download the latest version that is intended for the US only but your Quicken ID or your data file is causing it to be a Canadian imposter, eh!

@Arctic Hare I respectfully request that you download the file from Quicken.ca noting teh name of the downloaded file is Quicken-Canada.exe. It would be awful were this is the USD version.
I also include an screenshot of the new account window which — based on the FI's — looks very Canadian to me!
I could be wrong but….

Again, it is my understanding that the Canadian FI's appear because of a data element outside the app. I believe you get the Canadian and the USA FIDIR.TXT files with the app and the app decides which one to use based on a data element outside the app. Quicken has not been transparent about how this works, but this seems to be the popular theory amongst SUs and experienced users. Again, I'm not saying I know this for certain - it is based on interference. Put another way - to the best of my knowledge there is no USA or CAD app. There is one app that sports CAD or USA attributes based on either one's Quicken ID or a field in the data file - I suspect it is the Quicken ID. Or, maybe there actually are really, truly CAD and USA builds of the App and these inference theories are wrong. If so, it is bewildering why the Rev number scheme doesn't more clearly differentiate between them. If anybody really, truly knows how this works, I'm all ears…

@Arctic Hare Appreciated and understood. What then us the best way to determine whether I have the correct build / Canadian version?

I am so completely frustrated with Quicken.
I have spent 4 hours on the phone with them only to learn:
- The official Canadian version is R59.9 while the office US version is version R60.15.
- The Quicken webpages — whether Quicken.ca or personal subscription page — is downloading US version R60.15 to Canadians.
- No one at Quicken has the ability to provide a URL for Canada version R59.9! I spent 4 hours on the phone with Tier 1 and Tier 2 support!
The suggestion was to load US version R60.15 and use the patch to roll it back to Canadian version R59.9. Very concerned that this will create problems down the road (because it is not a clean install [i.e., US versioning → Canadian versioning] ) and, as such, I am very reluctant to open the time building out a new machine with this approach. Comments / thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
This is maddening!

Haha - exactly as I surmised !!! …not that it is a good thing …this is a case where I would have preferred to have been wrong!

@Arctic Hare , agreed, I wish you were wrong too! How do you think I should proceed?
