Managed Sharing

I have shared access of one of my datasets to another person. That person was able to create a Quicken account on the Web using the email address I shared the dataset to. They were able to see my dataset just fine on the Web (app.quicken.com).

However, when they tried to use the Quicken Classic companion app, they got an error "No Active Subscription". I didn't think this was the way it was supposed to work. I thought the shared person would be able to view the dataset without a Quicken Subscription both on the Web AND in the Quicken Classic companion app.

    Hello @LisainIL,

Is this person signing in using your Quicken ID and password?

I ask because for a dataset to be accessible through Quicken on the Web and Quicken Mobile app, you have to sign in using the same Quicken ID and password that the desktop data file is registered under.

Check back and let us know! Thank you.

No, they are signing into their account.
Your statement "for a dataset to be accessible through Quicken on the Web and Quicken Mobile app, you have to sign in using the same Quicken ID and password that the desktop data file is registered under." is untrue.
There is a new feature called "manage sharing" which I am utilizing here. When you share a dataset with someone, the email I received when setting it up specifically said "they don't need a Quicken subscription of their own." Which was true for access on the Web, but not for the mobile app. However, the CEO's Dec 18th statement said otherwise:
"All our Quicken Classic users have access to our web and mobile Quicken Classic companion apps, which now support permissioned data sharing, letting you give a family member or trusted party access to your synced Quicken data on web or mobile using their own login and password."

I apologize for the misunderstanding as my answer was based on the information found in this support article.

Since the information is outdated, I will go ahead and submit a request to have the information updated, and I appreciate you clarifying!

I went ahead and tested this myself and was able to replicate this issue. I also don't see the "Managed sharing" option available in the Mobile app the way it is available in Quicken on the Web, and do not see any mention of it being available in the Mobile release notes. Therefore, I will be forwarding this issue to the proper channels to have this further investigated. To aid the investigation, if you don't mind— could you please open your own Quicken Mobile app and submit a problem report?

To so, please log into the Quicken Mobile app with your own credentials. Then, navigate to the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) at the top left to access the sidebar menu. From there, click on Help > Report an issue.

On the following screen, under Feature, choose Other and describe the issue (feel free to simply copy the explanation shown in my screenshot, just make sure to add the Quicken ID of the other person you granted access to). Make sure to include Console & Network Logs as well as Quicken Mobile App Data, and if possible, include a screenshot from the user receiving the "No active subscription" error message.

While you will not receive a response through this submission, these reports will help our teams in further investigating the issue.

We apologize for any inconvenience in the meantime! Thank you.

@LisainIL - In case you are not aware, the shared access that you have granted the other person is for full read/write access. That is fine if that is what you want. Just be sure that you both carefully coordinate when each will be making changes/edits to the data and when the syncs will be performed. If not carefully coordinated it could introduce data integrity issues and issues with account balances, etc.

If you would prefer for the other person to have read-only access, there is a Product Idea that has been posted requesting that a read-only access option be added. This would eliminate this potential risk and also is very desired for those who wish to share the financial data without giving them the write/edit capability, for instance for financial planners/advisors, accountants, tax advisors, children, etc. You can view this idea at the following link. I would encourage you to vote for it because even if you do not need or want that restriction now there might come a time when you will.:

Quicken Classic Premier (US) Subscription: R60.15 on Windows 11 Home

This seems like it NEEDS a read only option as default.
