I deactivated the account and readded it in order to link it to the existing register. It prompted 3 times for a code

I haven't seen any updates in several days. Does anyone know what's going on?

I have been using quick with Target Bank for quite some time and for the last few weeks have had the same problems I see being posted here. I tried connecting several times a day with no luck. I decided to stop trying, wait a few weeks and see what happened. Same thing again This time, I disconnected my account and stopped downloads from Target. I waited a few weeks and after doing the manual download and balancing the last few months, I decided to try again. I reconnected the account and reconnected with Target Bank and it finally worked. :) (4/4/25).

I just tried to download transactions. I had to get a verification code sent to me, but once I entered that, all of the transactions that were waiting since it broke, came into Quicken. Worked exactly as before.

Same here. Connection now works as it did before; however, it did not pull in some transactions. Had to manually add those in since the QFX file import still doesn't work.

Same problem for me.

Is this resolved yet? I tried to resync yesterday, asked for 2 factor 2 times in the same "setup" sequence, I assume it would fail so I cancelled. There was a side effect, that process changed my starting balance (I watched the ledger change from 0 to something else, which was all in the starting balance), which is absolutely ridiculous, throws off all my reconciliations. This has happened many times on different accounts and various updates.

What I am experiencing is that Target requests a code each time I want to download transactions. This behavior is the same as how Venmo acts for me. It is a feature!

I was able to setup our target account again yesterday. However, it's asking for 2FA everytime you download transactions now which is a pain. And I can't find anywhere on the redcard site to turn off 2FA. Another minor issue which I have seen when disconnecting and reconnecting to a financial institution is that Quicken changes the opening balance of that account and messes up the current balance.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for sharing your experiences — I know how frustrating this can be.
At this time, we are aware of the issues with Target RedCard accounts, including repeated 2FA (two-factor authentication) prompts and missing or altered transactions after reconnecting. The frequent 2FA requests appear to be a requirement from Target’s side and may not be avoidable for now.
If you're continuing to experience issues downloading transactions or if your account balance appears incorrect after reconnecting, I recommend reviewing your Opening Balance and manually adjusting if needed. Unfortunately, some users may also need to manually enter any missing transactions until the connection stabilizes.
We’re continuing to track reports on this and will share any updates as we receive them. Your patience and continued feedback are truly appreciated.

Same problem as everybody else. Error CC-506

this morning it is not prompting (2FA) for a code to be sent, but the download of the QFX file from the Targe site still has an issue:

I spoke to soon. After once or two,
the first time this morning QW didn't prompt for a code, but subsequent tries it did.—

This has been going on for how long? Call Target and get no answers. Call Quicken and they say they are working on it… and have an open ticket about it… what the [Removed - Language] does that mean? [Removed - Rant]

I finally got the Target account to work BUT now I have to enter a verification code each time. That really stinks. Anyone else seeing this issue??

Same here.

I assumed it's because 2FA is on for my card account. Same thing happens with my bank. I consider it a minor inconvenience at most.

I still CAN NOT get the financial info to download to Quicken. The financial institution field says "Target National Bank" and is not editable. When I try to set up the online to auto download the transaction, Quicken says it cannot find my bank and will set it up manually but this doesn't work either. It then gives me the option to sign into my Target account but then says my login credentials are incorrect and to verify at the bank website. But apparently Target National Bank's website is not operational. Please advise. Thanks.

@rhinodad: No on the 2FA. I had this happen with another account and I fixed it with the help of another user so I think I'll have to dig a little further.

I can connect and download Target transactions to Quicken, however, Target now requires a confirmation text that interrupts the entire process until I enter the code that is texted to me from Target. I HATE THAT!! Is there a way to avoid the confirmation text, other than disabling the auto download for Target?

There is no way of avoiding this two factor authentication (2FA) as the conventional wisdom is that passwords aren’t enough. Ironically, I’m now getting 2FA requests for Quicken one step updates (ironic name, right?) for accounts that don’t themselves always require 2FA on their own login procedures. Quicken should undertake an effort to negotiate away this requirement for one step updates that have no risk of unauthorized transfers of funds. The problem will only get worse as institutions implement this financial institution CYA requirement.

2FA is a good thing, as it is an extra step that helps protect your account. However, most 2FA implementations have a "remember me" feature, at least on the web browser side, that lets you avoid the 2FA each time for trusted machines and browsers. This "remember me" feature is the part that Quicken needs to implement with financial institutions as more start implementing 2FA.
This same problem occurs with (some) Venmo accounts and currently there appears to be no way to avoid it there either. See this recent lengthy discussion on that topic. Unfortunately, Venmo appears to not want to cooperate with Quicken.

Brian - You may be right, but something needs to be done for so-called "third-party financial aggregators" like Quicken along the lines you suggest. The inconvenience will become quite substantial if you use Quicken to update five or six accounts. Also, if it's such a good idea, why are major financial institutions (e.g., Citi for their 137 million Costco accounts) not using it? Or did Citi long ago "remember me," and have I just forgotten that, which, for me is quite probable at 80. However, I already find myself limiting my Target purchases so that I can eliminate Target from my One Step Update. I just wish Quicken would treat this issue very seriously. Because I am quite a bit more concerned about convenient downloads into Quicken than I am about where I buy my toothpaste, whether I get the Target card's 5% discount or which bank I use. I am getting "Permission Problem You don't have permission to do that" when trying to view the community Alert for Target.

Same problem. Can download from Target but Quicken says it is unable to verify the financial information. This is why I pay for Quicken…so I can download my transactions. PLEASE FIX THIS. It seems to be a problem with Quicken and not Target.

Similar issues to above. Got account reconnected, but missing transactions. Downloaded .QFX files but received "unable to verify the financial institution" error.

I just came back from 11 days on vacation. So Target - Quicken still not resolved? We live behind Target, so that's our go to place. And I like the 5% cashback, but perhaps I can move to Discover on the quarters where Discover gives 5% cashback on Target.

I've given up on downloading Target data. It just doesn't work

Same issue here.
Quicken dutifully asks for the phone number to which Target should text the 2FA code. Then nothing. I enter a random 6 digits to move on, but nothing received from Target. It's not clear if it's Target or Quicken that is the issue.
According to the Target website, Third Party Aggregators, Target Circle Card information will not update in Third Pary Planning tools. Target suggests going to the "Full Transaction Download" (Located at the bottom of the Home page) and download the transactions there. The download format choices include Spreadsheet (Excel,CSV), Quickbooks (QBO), Quicken Web Connect (QFX), or Open Financial Exchange. None of the options seems to be compatible with my version of Quicken (Quicken Classic Premier, Version 62.16, Build 27.1.62.16, Windows 11 Home).
It would be very helpful if the Quicken folks could give us an idea of when this problem might be solved, or whether it might never be solved — either would be useful pieces of information. The download deficiency has been occurring since Target did the system cutover back in March (to Azure?). We're almost in May, at this point. I would think something is in the works, unless Quicken has no intention of addressing the issue (both of which are valid responses), but, again, it would be nice to know Quicken's intentions.
