Target Connecting Finally, but not downloading past month's transactions
Answers

I can confirm that the day after statement closing all of my transactions for that statement period were successfully downloaded. Today, a day later, the 1 cleared transaction showing at the Target Red Card web site did not download to Quicken despite a successful (2FA) connection indicated by a 2nd green check mark in the Update indicator.

There's no fixing this issue, as Target's Circle Card (issued by TD Bank) now blocks 3rd party data aggregators including Quicken. The only remaining option is to manually download transactions from Target and then get them into Quicken manually.
Here is the updated language in their FAQ from the Target Circle Card website:
Q: How do I update my Target Circle Card information in financial planning tools or data aggregators?
A: Due to recent changes, your Target Circle Card information won't update automatically in third party financial planning tools. You'll need to refresh the information manually. For steps to refresh your Target Circle Card information, please contact your third-party financial tool provider. If you would like to export your Target Circle Card transactions, please see Q&A below:
Q: How can I download my transactions into other financial planning programs?
A: Select 'Go to full transaction history' and select 'show search options.' Once you enter your search criteria, select 'Search,' then 'Download transactions' and select a format to begin download.TD Bank apparently decided to remove this key functionality recently. Accordingly I have zeroed out my Target card and will no longer use it going forward, substituting another card as payment in my Target app that does not have a policy of blocking third-party aggregators like Quicken which is essential to me for tracking expenses across multiple cards.

Target National Bank issue is NOT resolved. Quicken for Mac connects to bank, requires MFA on every connection, and then does not download transactions. Worked one time in early May, then stopped working again, including my attempt at end of statement period. I have disconnected and reconnected the account multiple times, to no avail. Please advise when this will be resolved, it has been going on for more than 90 days, since mid March.

I too have the same issue. It is ridiculous they ask for TFA knowing they block transaction downloads. If Quicken is able to disable the download connection ability and inform the user, that would avoid confusion and frustration. I do wonder why TD bank blocks third party downloads when all other financial institutions allow it. My guess it is for security but if other financial institutions allow it they must feel it can be controlled. Also, I have tried to export transactions from Target and that also does not work. I get the message FI is not active and fails to load.

I guess that is the Result of calling Canada the 51st State. TD (Toronto Dominion, now owned by Schwab) Bank is screwing with Americans

Same exact issue as others, unable to connect or download with same error message as others. I have written directly to Target to indicate how frustrating their financial partner TD Bank is.

Same thing is happening. Why ask for MFA and then block the transactions from downloading. Just another value added service from TD bank (not). It is pretty frustrating.

Same here. It downloaded my transactions once after the statement date then back to nothing. I wrote the president of Target and they pushed me off to a customer representative who knew nothing of this issue until I informed him. I believe he also is in the dark from his employer. Still nothing is resolved. I also tried to manually import my transactions and that also does not work. I find it inconceivable that target would allow and accept this for their customers. How many target holders use Quicken? I would love to hear from Quicken if they can furnish that information. That might give induce Target corporate to take this matter seriously. Thank you.

Like others my transactions have not been downloading. I decided to give it another try this morning. All of my transactions for the last month downloaded into Quicken using the MFA method. Maybe others will have some luck with trying again.

I was able to download all of my transactions for my statement period that ended July 3. Today, with 2 new transactions showing cleared at Target Card web site Quicken failed to download anything after successful 2FA and green check mark. The issue continues. Once a month downloading is not an acceptable solution.

Agree:
Once a month downloading is not an acceptable solution.Quicken please fix this so Target behaves as all other accounts within Quicken.

Was working up until the end of June but has not downloaded transactions since July 1 even with the annoying 2FA prompt that is skipped for ALL other accounts. I even disconnected and reconnected the Target account to Quicken and it still won't download anything beyond 6/30/25.
What is being done to address this??

Asks me for 2FA every time… doesn't download anything. At this point I'm actively avoiding using my Red Card (and getting the 5% discount) because I can't manually add all my transactions. This is so disappointing.

On Quicken Mac current version. Same problem ongoing for months. I enter all txns manually (call me compulsive) but rely on Quicken Connect to download transactions to verify what I've entered. 2FA for every download request is very annoying. Like many others, I also tried downloading txns from Target Red Card website to a .QFX file. Desktop Quicken gave me error message "Download Unavailable. This FI is inactive, we cannot connect."
I'll give it another shot at my next statement date, coming up in around 2+ weeks.

Hello @ScotFree,
Thank you for letting us know you're also seeing these issues.
If you haven't already done so, you may want to try this work around for importing QFX files to update your Target account:
I hope this helps!

I have stopped using my Target credit card and am losing my 5% discount. I am trying to use quicken as an aid to my life, not extra work of manual downloads. I'm so frustrated about this and seems like there is nothing to be done. I went to the Red Card message center and it's "not available." great.

We hear your concerns. Our teams are investigating this issue and working towards a resolution. Were you able to use the workaround previously mentioned?
We appreciate your patience and support!

The workaround works for me. Annoying…

@Quicken Jasmine I just tried the QXF file and got the error code "Quicken is currently unable to verify the financial institution information for this download. Please try again later" so nope, didn't work. Will just continue to not get my 5% benefit I guess.
ETA: I tried to message the Target Red Center again today, and the feature is still not available. It's just not worth it to me to try and call customer service and go through three layers of people who don't have the ability to address what appears to be an issue above their pay grade

Thank you for your reply @wicksteel,
Did you manually edit the QFX file, as recommended in the post quoted earlier in this discussion?
If not, then I recommend that you try manually editing the QFX file.
Thank you!

I appreciate your help; unfortunately, the "work around" appears to be above my skills. I get as far as opening in notepad, but I have no idea if I'm supposed to be replacing certain information, just adding that to the top, etc. I ended up typing it in at the top of the open notepad, saving, and closing. Tried to import and it said "Quicken is unable to complete your request. [OL-221-A] and then at the bottom of the dialogue box [OL-221-B]].

Thank you for your reply,
My understanding of the work around is that you would be replacing information.
The QFX file, as it is being generated by the financial institution, has incorrect information that prevents Quicken from being able to verify the financial institution.
Putting the information at the top creates a formatting error, which is why you saw the OL-221 when you attempted that.
Thank you!

@wicksteel If you can open the file in Notepad, you can do it! As you've seen, dropping the 5 lines of code at the top desert work. 'You just need to look for the same lines of code in the existing file and replace them. So search in the file for "INTU.BID" to locate this portion of the text, and replace those lines.

Well would ya look at that, I did it! :) Thank you for the help, that was the missing part I needed to understand. Definitely not perfect, but better than the current status quo for me. Thank you!

Good news - Target Circle credit card finally starting downloading transactions today.
I ran one step update twice and it seems to be working fine.

Not working for me…

@gmarchese407 Maybe try validate/repair qdata.qdf and then deactivate/reactivate downloads? Also login to website and perform any necessary housekeeping?

Did it happen to be right after your statement closing date? It has been downloading for me once a month when my statement closes.

@dmgold Yes it was right after my statement closed that it worked.
Do you think it won't work again until next statement?
Meanwhile I just spent an hour dealing with the Fidelity EWC+ issue…
