PNC Bank not downloading since February 23, 2026

So apparently we have another issue with PNC. Last OSU I did was 3/27. I did other things this weekend and went to do OSU's for both accounts this morning and I am getting OL-297-A Quicken is unable to establish an internet connection. Apparently others are experiencing as well, posts on the older thread from issues last year. I know it is not a Quicken issue by itself as I use Direct Connect with another bank and it is functioning just perfect. So it is an issue with PNC or PNC and Quicken. I am now beyond frustrated and I just closed the one ticket with PNC Friday cause the only issue with the one account was missing transactions from Feb. Anyone else having this issue?

I have also received the OL-297-A error several times in recent days, usually in the morning. In each case, I waited a few hours, tried again, and succeeded.

Hello @Swift,
There is a separate discussion for the OL-297 error:
I recommend reviewing it, since the Community Alert for the issue is linked there, and a customer shared a workaround which you may find useful.
Thank you!

Well went this morning to see if it was fixed yet. Well sort of….I was able to do OSU's for all my accounts. Guess what I got all my missing transaction from when this all began for all of my accounts. So my decision not to send screen shots to PNC and waste all that time paid off. I knew that once they fixed that issue they would come thru and they did. So try it now and see what you all get. However, 3 of my 7 accounts are showing an online balance of "zero" but I know that is incorrect as I just was logged into my accounts. The accounts with a balance are not correct. So I will wait till later today and run OSU's again and see what I get.

@MBaron Same here. The transactions from that "outage" period all came flooding in this morning. Since I had already entered them manually, I just accepted the matches. Fingers crossed this is finally behind us and things will continue working as expected.

Last night (~8pm CST) I got the OL-297-A error code and did Update Now 20 times over the next hour before my PNC accounts finally updated. But what downloaded was every transaction beginning 2/27/2026. Previously all of those transactions had downloaded so these all ended up being duplicates and had to be deleted.
Before deleting I wondered why all of these transactions were downloading so I viewed the downloaded payees and noted that all of them were a little different from what had previously been downloaded. I'm guessing that means that each of these duplicate transactions had different transaction IDs from the ones that previously downloaded preventing Quicken from filtering out the duplicates like it normally would. At any rate, it is a good indication that PNC did something with their system that caused the dupes to download.
Does it mean that the issue is resolved? Way too early to know but OSU ran successfully this morning on the 1st attempt with no duplicates. And a couple of new transactions downloaded. Keeping my fingers crossed.

@Boatnmaniac I got the OL-297-A last night too doing OSU, and like you, after about 15 attempts I connected without issue. This AM (3/31) at 5:30AM EDT no issues on first attempt. Tried a second time just to confirm … no issues. Just did another OSU (9:45AM) to get today’s downloads … got everything I should have (4 items) with no duplicates. Then did a couple bill pays just now and connected without issue. Hoping they fixed whatever the issue was with OL-297-A. The real test for me is anytime after noon. That is when the connectivity is worst for me. I will report back in the afternoon.

@Boatnmaniac its 3:15PM EDT and I have PNC DC connected without issue all afternoon. In fact, this was the first time in maybe 10 days that my "scheduled" OSU actually worked. I think something has been improved or fixed :-) Fingers crossssssed!

I downloaded this morning and 98btransaction came through, now my balances are off again. Yay another waste of my time trying to find their mistakes. Never had issues with BBVA, until they were sold to these clowns.

My 2nd OSU was this evening and it worked well for me, too, without needing to take any additional Update Now steps.

@Boatnmaniac that is very good news. I guess the “proof will be in the pudding” as they say. It will also be interesting to see how long PNC is able to keep DC humming along without issue this month.

Well I have 1 account with 1 transaction that cleared on 3/27 that has yet to come thru, that account has the correct online balance after OSU this morning. Not sure why just that 1 transaction. So far that is the only missing transaction that I am aware of. I will wait till next week to see if that account is not updating correctly as it should have quite a few transactions in the next few days.

It would appear that my issues (missing transactions and OL297A) between PNC and Quicken have been resolved. Which of these two organizations caused this situation? Like many, I invested time preforming manual transactions to try to keep the information balanced between the two organizations and our checkbook. Last fall, I had similar issues between these two parties.

Hello All,
Thank you for updating this discussion.
We are happy to hear that many of you are now finding success in downloading transactions from PNC.
For anyone still experiencing the OL 297 error, the Alert for that is still open at this time.
Thanks again!

We will likely never find out what the cause was nor specifically which organization owned it. But I can say is that in most cases OL error codes are specific to DC and DC issues in most cases are tied to something having gone wrong at the financial institution.
This is also reinforced by the fact that OL-297-A error codes are generated when the financial institution's servers are failing to respond properly to connection requests from Quicken. If the issue is only occurring with one DC connected financial institution (such as in this case) it's a pretty good indication that Quicken's side of the DC connection is working as it should be.
Another thing supporting that this has been a PNC issue it to look at the extensive history of various DC connection issues and download errors that have occurred ever since PNC made changes to their system at the end of last October.
