Quicken.com shows that it is a newly released (no longer Beta) product. Haven't heard anything about this so far but it is spendy @ $399/yr.: https://www.quicken.com/lp/em/classic-family-enterprise/ .

Hopefully a Moderator will pop in here and clarify: Is this a Beta product or fully released product? And what does it do that other Quicken Classic editions don't do?

Hi all, this product is out of Beta and is available for purchase. Quicken Family Enterprise is the only Classic product built for people managing multiple legal entities like LLCs, trusts, households, and family members' accounts, all in one place. The other Classic tiers assume you're managing one financial life.

You can group your accounts by entity (household, LLC, trust, etc.) and run reports for each one individually or all together.

Additionally, you can invite family members, a bookkeeper, or your financial advisor to view or manage specific accounts.

Lastly, you can track private equity, venture capital, real estate, and investment partnerships right alongside your traditional accounts.

There is more as well, so make sure to visit the product page for all of the details.

(The info on this page is being updated.)

Makes me wonder why we, the Quicken Community Users, don't hear about these new product announcements until someone starts asking questions …

@Quicken Janean Just curious whether this is planned to come to Quicken Classic Mac as well, or if this is going to be a Windows-only product. This was the first I've heard about it.

    Is this a multi-user product?

It sounds like the sharing is via Quicken on the Web

For the time being, 2 Q files (1 for us and 1 for the club where I'm treasurer) are quite sufficient.

The other features of QFE are either already available via workarounds, or simply not worth the price, at least for me.

I suppose this might be useful for users who have asked to be able to group and report on accounts separately: mine, spouse's, and joint for example, but still be able to report overall taxes, Net Worth, etc.

It would be nice if this was ported to Mac. Although, at fist glance - I've replicated what it appears this product does but just having one quicken file per entity.

But you can already do that by selecting what to include in reports.

You can, but it appears that this would make it easier - just select the account group you want to view and all reports will use only those accounts without having to edit each report individually. Not to mention the dashboard, portfolio views, account sidebar, etc.

I don't need something like this myself, but if I was tracking my accounts, spousal accounts, kids accounts, parents accounts, and business accounts, I could see the appeal in being able to focus on one of those sets at a time & have all of the Quicken UI across the board change to reflect that focus.

    @Jon

For $400 per year, I can click a mouse a few times to customize reports.

And, that's even assuming that all of the persons you mention are included on 1 IRS 1040.

From the video, I gather one of main points is that you can have multiple 1040 "entities" in one data file and switch between them, instead of in separate data files and switching between accounts. What's more it allows for "entities" where in one entity you might group some accounts together in "All businesses", but in other separate them out and be able to switch between them with one selection. If you put them is separate data files, there isn't any way for you to create a "consolidated view".

I really wonder how well the separate truly is. For instance, in places like the tax planner and exporting to TurboTax.

How well does Quicken Business separate different businesses right now? Come to think of it, I gather that it doesn't allow that at all?

With a price tag of $400 it seems to me they are trying to edge into the QuickBooks area.

Will this new version handle more data better than the current Quicken Classic Business and Personal version? I have many years of data for just one entity and loading in the current version just takes forever…

When it comes to slow performance that isn't tied to the investment transactions there has been very little clarity in exactly what is causing the problems since in general isn't slow for everyone. So, one can't really state for certainty anything about what the performance might be when a lot of changes are point into the program, but one has to understand that the base code isn't changing. They have added code on top of the current functionality.

The new product does look interesting, but out of my price range. Having separate instances is sufficient. Given the changes required to the Quicken database to facilitate this new product, I have concerns around performance and data integrity without some additional details on how the underlying database is being fortified and modernized.

I received the email from Eric Dun recently announcing this product. I reached out to attempt to upgrade, trying not to focus on the $400 a year sticker. I was told it is still in beta and is not available to everyone. Odd, seeing as it was announced and has a price tag. But I too am concerned with data integrity and performance and if the product is still in beta — no losing data if I were to upgrade/switch now. Sounds exciting— the grouping capability — but I am currently managing separate entities by customizing reports etc (even though customizing is tedious sometimes and the interface to do so seems old—wonky).

It seems that the person you talked with is not yet aware of this so maybe it needs to be messaged to the Customer Support team, again.
