I am having the same problem. I can't even sign in to the CITI credit card accounts independently from my Quicken Classic Premium. Probably a CITI Bank problem. Following for a solution.

These are Citi Retail Services cards. There was an Announcement posted on 3/21 that Citi's Retail Services cards were going to be migrated from the EWC connection to the EWC+ connection:

At that time I was able to proactively change my Sears Card in a test file from EWC to EWC+ without issue. I was also able to add it as a new account with EWC+ in a separate test file without issue.

I did not try to upgrade my EWC connection for card in my primary file at that time as I was planning to not do that until Quicken would prompt me to make the connection change.

Yesterday and today I have gotten prompts in my primary file to upgrade the connection to EWC+ but every time I try to do that the reauthorization process fails. For me it has failed after I am pushed to and logged into my online account but after selecting the account to be reauthorized for downloads. I also deactivated the account in my primary file and then tried to set it up, again, and also tried to add it as a new account in a test file but the reauthorization process failed in both cases and at the same point in the reauthorization process.

I am able to log into my Sears Card online account without issue but the login page does not look normal with some distortions in the login fields.

I am also able to download my Sears Card with EWC (in a restored file from last night) without issue.

It seems to me that Citi is encountering issues with the implementation of EWC+ for the Retail Services cards.

    Hello @Greg Brown & @BigTem,

Thank you for letting us know you're not able to authorize/reauthorize your accounts. When I check on our end, I'm not seeing any error messages/codes.

At what point in the process are you encountering an issue? Is the error message in the screenshot from Citi's website?

I look forward to your reply!

    Thank you for your reply,

How long have you been encountering this issue? Is it always the same error on the financial institution's website?

    Thank you!

UPDATE: In a test file I was just now finally able to add my Citi Sears Card account with the EWC+ connection method….but I needed to temporarily disable all of my browser's add-on extensions BEFORE doing Add Account.

Whatever the error was has been resolved. Reauthorization worked this morning…

This morning I attempted to authorize my Sears Card account in my primary data file. I was optimistic that it would work because of the success I saw last night in my test file and @Greg Brown's update this morning. But it failed after logging into my online account and submitted the request to authorize the credit card account.:

I also noticed a change when I tried to do OSU with the EWC connection: For the first time in the last couple of days I was not prompted to authorize the account to EWC+. So, it would appear that Citi Retail Services is still encountering intermittent authorization failures (or successes).

I'm not too worried about this at this time because I am still able to download via EWC and since the notice I got from Citi a few weeks ago said that the transition process would not be completed until 4/12. So, I'll just keep trying each day until the authorization process is completed.

BTW, the Sears Card EWC+ connections that were successfully set up in 3 different test files have been working well with no error codes nor messages, so that is good.

Performed Update Now on L.L. Bean MasterCard account and was prompted to reauthorize account. Went through the steps and all updated as expected.

I just opened my primary file and got this popup from Quicken. Note that the date by when I will need to be authorizing EWC+ for my Sears Card has been pulled in from 4/12 (per the email received earlier from Citi) to 4/2:

It took me 4 attempts over the last hour to successfully authorize EWC+ for my Sears Card but it finally did work. Not sure why I got 3 failures because I followed exactly the same protocol with each attempt….the exact same protocol used over the last 3 days which sometimes worked and sometimes didn't.

OSU for my Sears Card in all 4 files failed today with each returning a CC-505 error code.

Trying to Reset it in one file failed and ended up deactivating the account. I tried Add Account and that failed, as well.

Quicken no longer offers the option to set up downloads with EWC so that is no longer an option.

Update Now in another file (still set up with EWC) pushed me to reauthorize the card which I declined so I can continue to download via EWC.

I also tried logging into my online account and that failed as well. I've seen a few other posts today for other Citi Retail Services cards also running into authorization and OSU failures.

    So the saga continues.

    Hi @Boatnmaniac,

I took a look and confirmed that you’re also receiving the 505 (105) error internally with those accounts. Could you send over your logs so I can review the details? You can do this by navigating to Help > Report a Problem within Quicken.

Once you’ve done that, let me know here so I can take a closer look.

Since the change to Citi resetting my Sears Card account fails in quicken. The authorization process used by quicken works just fine and my browser indicates authorization is successful but quicken says "Sign in to Sears Card Bank Failed. Try again." "Sorry, the sign in failed due to time out or a connection error." This has happened 3 times now. Running windows 10, Quicken is fully updated.

I also received emails from searscardissuedbycitibank confirming authorization "As requested on 2025-03-27, you have given Quicken access to your Sears account information."

How can this be resolved without losing my data?

Citi Retail Services has been having a lot of issues implementing and sustaining the new EWC+ connection. Others have been reporting similar issues. I've encountered many issues with my Sears Card in my main data file and in 3 other test files. Works for a while….stops working with an error code of CC-503/-505…reauthorization sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. The old EWC connection still works for me in a test account but I cannot set up a new EWC connection anymore.

In addition, sometimes I can log into my online Sears Card account but at other times I get an error message and I cannot get logged in.

I haven't seen an Alert about this issue being posted.

It's a good thing I do not use this card a lot. Hopefully Citi will get ti resolved, soon.

Today I was finally able to connect to my 4 CITIbank credit card accounts to reauthorize. My LLBean card correctly linked, reauthorized and downloaded the information. My Sears and 2 Home Depot accounts would not connect to Quicken Classic Premier but did establish the reauthorization on the 3rd party authorization on the credit card web sites. How can I resolve this issue?

I submitted the report a few minutes ago.

BTW, after I submitted the report I tried Set Up Now for the Sears Card. Thought you might be interested in seeing what happened.:

@Ghawkeswood , @iminden - Please submit a report of this issue to Quicken. They are collecting reports which are being reviewed and passed along to their development team. In QWin, go to Help > Report a Problem. I'm not sure how to do this in QMac. Be sure to attach the log files and, if you feel comfortable doing so, attach the sanitized data file. (Sanitized data files remove personal information from the files.)

been getting this for the past 2-3 days. Error suggests this a temp communication problem but given no one raised the issue so far … I am wondering if this is really the case.

    Other folks running same issue?

I'm having issues as well. I was prompted to reauthorize my BestBuy and Home Depot, both failed with different messages. Both show card name as "null" followed by last four of the card number on the web page after login via the browser.

I eventually reestablished Best Buy card after deactivating online service, then accessing the settings menu from within the account and selecting "set up online."

Home Depot, however, is proving more difficult. The most common result with Home Depot (both before and after deactivating) is same as @Boatnmaniac - "Your accounts have been authorized successfully!…
" on the browser page, but then "Sorry, sign in failed due to time out or connection error
    …."
    when back in Quicken

But when I look at the source for the "Your accounts have been authorized successfully!" page (https://services.quicken.com/oauth-redirect/….) I see Quicken internal errors:

When I go to Linked Apps and Websites in my Home Depot account, it lists Quicken as a third party app with access, last consent date today.

I have removed access via Home Depot and started over, same results.

Don't know if this is relevant, but when I went to About Quicken look up my current version included in the popup is "Subscription Expired on February 13, 2025"

Knowing that I was charged for renewal, and I've been using it (mostly) without issue since then, I looked at Check Subscription Status and it says Your subscription is up to date.

Over the past few weeks, I have received notifications from Quicken (via One Step Update) that I need to reauthorize. Also, today, after opening Quicken, I was presented with a big splash screen detailing the new partnership that I needed to reauthorize.

One big problem: no matter how many times I attempt to login to my Best Buy Citibank account for the reauthorization, I get the following message:

"We encountered a problem processing your request. Please try again later."

If I go directly to my Best Buy Citibank account, I can login just fine. Also, I went through the deactivation and activation process. The login was successful for that, but as soon as I click One Step Update, I'm notified that I have reauthorize my Best Buy Citibank account.

So, whatever is going on with the partnership between Quicken and Best Buy Citibank has a bug in the login portion of the reauthorization.

  • Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭

Updates like this are horrible. They don't work. I received an email that my new Citibank Connection is ready!

I reauthorize, sign into Citibank (have a null field in the CC name but proper ending digits), the website indicates it all went well, but when I return to Quicken it says it failed.

Why do you release things without testing them! You waste my time! You raise your prices and you get worse! I want my Microsoft Money 1999. It at least works.
