    Hello @r-e-l,

Thank you for letting us know you're still having an issue connecting with Citi. Are you still seeing a CC-505 error, or is something else happening? Please also send a problem report with logs attached by navigating to Help>Report a Problem in your Quicken program.

One item that I haven't seen mentioned is that if your card is "old school" like mine was, the "Financial Institution" in the account properties will be listed as Sears. Change the field to Shop Your Way and set up Online Services. This will change the website that it opens and your credentials should work.

Really, this is way harder than it should be. Shame on Quicken and Citibank. We pay enough money that this stuff should WORK without so much customer effort.

The link provided inside Quicken does not work. I can, however, login to my account using my user ID and my password. I am assuming this will be the same problem with Home Depot. Both cards are issued by Citi.

Is there a workaround or will Quicken just never login to those accounts?

  • Quicken Windows Other Member ✭✭✭

It says resolved, but I still can't login at the site it takes me to to authorize the account.

But I can still login on the normal citi website.

The site Quicken takes me to is:

    https://citiretailservices.citibankonline.com/RSauth/ob/aggregator/obsignon?siteId=PLCN_SYW&pageName=obsignon&langId=en_US

That sites gives me this error "We encountered a problem processing your request. Please try again later."

The site I usually login to and that works is:

    https://citiretailservices.citibankonline.com/RSnextgen/svc/launch/index.action?siteId=PLCN_SYW&JFP_TOKEN=PBFA5R60#signon

Please get this fixed I use the SYW card for everything which means a ton of transactions monthly. Thanks.

I saw a post on another thread that says this issue has been resolved. I can assure you it has not.

I am still getting the same error when trying to reauthorize my Best Buy and Home Depot accountsl.

I can log in to both of them directly on their websites. I have successfully changed passwords for both of them. But still cannot connect through quicken re-authorization.

Here is the thread that says it has been resolved. It was posted yesterday. I did receive a Quicken update today, but the problem persists:

For those who are not yet able to get your accounts reauthorized: Sometimes some browser settings can interfere with the reauthorization process. You might want to consider doing the following to see if that resolves the issue for you.

    • Make sure your default browser is Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Some other browsers, most notably DuckDuckGo can be problematic. You can temporarily change the default to one of these 3 browsers and then later switch the default back to the browser of your choice.
    • Temporarily disable all of browser extension add-ons.
    • If the browser's Privacy Setting is set to Strict, temporarily change it to Standard.
    • Make sure your Citi Retail Services credit card account is fully deactivated (Account Details > Online Services tab > Deactivate…if the Deactivate button is not present it confirms the account is deactivated).

Taking these steps can often resolve reauthorization issues but it doesn't always work. Maybe it will fix the issue for you.

I tried again today and it finally worked for me. I'm using Firefox and forgot to disable my extensions beforehand, but it still worked fine.

FYI, I'm using Windows 10 Pro.

I'm having the same issue with all of my Citi Retail cards (Home Depot, Best Buy). It's definitely not resolved. Running Quicken Classic Deluxe vR61.21 on Windows 11 Pro. I tried several times with both accounts, and each time I got "We encountered a problem processing your request. Please try again later."

I am still having the issue… not resolved.

  • Quicken Windows Other Member ✭✭✭

I cleared all browsing data, disabled extensions, and even tried edge instead of chrome. Really need solution ASAP for this.

I am having the same issue, but with CITI / Best Buy account. I have tried since I receive the message of the new connection. "We encounter a problem try again later". When I try to login using my CC # it still fail and doesn't recognize I have an account. However, when I go directly to the web page and login in, no problems. I can see all my CC info and transactions. Only fails when trying to reconnect to CITI through Quicken. I did send in a report.

I am using quicken premier on a Mac.

Same issue here with Brand Source Credit Cards. I can log in directly to the Brand Source website with no problems but when I attempt to reauthorize the account through Quicken, I get an error stating the username or password is incorrect. Quicken has marked the issue as corrected on March 31, 2025, but I am still having problems with my Brand Source account. I am using Quicken Premier for windows via subscription on Windows 11.

My Sears Card connection broke this morning during OSU. Over the next 3 hrs I tried to reauthorize the account. The 1st 3 times failed. The 4th time succeeded.

I am also having issues with my Best Buy credit card. I have been able to log into my Citi-Best Buy account, select the card, but then Quick fails to connect.

Encountering similar problems with a Sears-branded Citi card. Sometimes it gives the 'Encountered a problem…' message and sometimes it just rejects my login, even though the same credentials work directly with the Sears card website. This has been going on for many days.

Finally got my Home Depot CC linked with Quicken. I read some of the previous posts concerning extensions, etc and decided to just try Firefox as @Steven Latus mentioned. I installed Firefox, made it my default (without setting up extensions, creating a Firefox account, etc.) and tried again. Everything worked as it should have originally using Edge.

  • Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭

Had the Best Buy issue and can confirm that switching to a browser without any extensions worked. Specifically, I went from Chrome as the default to Edge, and it worked the first time without issues. I did close my old account and add a new Best Buy/ Citi account to get it working, but I'm not sure that was necessary. Probably just the browser switch would be sufficient.

I'm encountering similar problems with my Sears-branded Citi card that has been going on for weeks.

Attempting to reauthorize the Citi Shop Your Way card in Quicken opens up a new Citi window that says Sears with the Sears Home logo at the top and © 2024 Citigroup Inc on the bottom right. Attempts to login on this page result in the error message "We encountered a problem processing your request. Please try again later". (https://citiretailservices.citibankonline.com/RSauth/ob/aggregator/obsignon? siteId=SEARS&pageName=obsignon&langId=en_US).

Trying to retrieve my user ID on this page using either the (1) Yes, I have my Sears Card® or (2) No, I do not have my Sears Card options also results in the “We encountered a problem processing your request. Please try again later.” error message.

Trying to reset the password on this page using either the (1) Yes, I have my Sears Card® or (2) No, I do not have my Sears Card options also results in the ”Something you entered wasn’t right. Try again. After too many failed attempts, we’ll temporarily lock your online account” error message.

Using the same credentials on the Citi Sears card website works fine. (https://citiretailservices.citibankonline.com/RSnextgen/svc/launch/index.action?siteId=PLCN_SYW&langId=en_US#signoff)

My Quicken Deluxe for Windows is Version R62.16 / Build 27.1.62.16 and my OS is Windows 11.

I’ve spoken at length with Citi technical support who assured me this was a Quicken issue. This known issue has been going on for weeks with no resolution. Please give this widespread issue the attention it deserves to resolve this issue for the multitude of Quicken subscription holders that are affected.

Thank you for your attention to this issue.

There is more than one Citi Sears card: Shop Your Way is one. Sears Mastercard is another.

It sounds like you attempted to set up the connection using the "Set Up Now" option as found on the Online Services tab of Account Details or as linked in Account List. If you have "Sears" listed in the Account Name or financial institution in Account Details it is likely that Set Up Now picked that up and directed you to the Sears Mastercard reuthorization website, instead of to the Shop Your Way reauthorization website. Am I correct?

If so, instead of using Set Up Now go to Tools > Add Account > type in Shop Your Way Mastercard > Next.

I also recommend a few things before you do this:

    1. If you have not already done so, enter and save the dollar amount of the Opening Balance transaction into the Memo field. (Sometimes changing or adding a connection method can cause the dollar amount to change. By proactively entering and saving the correct dollar amount into the Memo field it makes it very easy to determine if this has happened and how to fix it.)
    2. Back up your data file.
    3. Make sure that the account is Deactivated on the Online Services tab of Account Details and then go to the General tab and remove all the Financial Institution information there (everything above the Contact Name field).
    4. Temporarily disable any and all browser extension add-ons.
    5. Browser Settings: If Privacy is set to Strict, temporarily change it to Standard.
    6. Then proceed to set up the account via Add Account (not Set Up Now).

Did this help resolve this issue for you?

I am still having same issue as others have reported trying to setup/reauthorize my Citibank Shell Mastercard for online access.

First I select the Financial Institution in Quicken

    2025-04-05_153914.jpg

Quicken says I need to authorize with Citi

    2025-04-05_154035.jpg

Browser opens on a Citibank page. I am able to login with my credentials.

    2025-04-05_154110.jpg

Citibank site seems to be having some sort of issue and is unable to display the account name (i.e. Shell Credit Card" or "Shell Master Card" or something other than "null"). The page is also not properly displaying what info will/won't be shared.

    2025-04-05_154213.jpg

Nonetheless, filling out the page and selecting "Authorize" redirects to a Quicken hosted page (see URL) and returns a successful message.

    2025-04-05_154454.jpg

But when I return to Quicken - the Quicken app sadly tells me that the sign-in has failed.

    2025-04-05_154508.jpg

I have reported this issue to Quicken through the app.

At this point I'm not sure if this is an issue on the Citi side or on the Quicken side…but either way I have been unable to setup my account for transaction download.

Is anyone from Quicken still investigating these issues?

  • Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭

Changing the Financial Institution in Quicken account details to SHOP YOUR WAY resolved my issue and changed the Citi window that opened from the page that said Sears with the Sears Home logo at the top to the new page that correctly says Shop Your Way. My login credentials were accepted and the account was reauthorized with no issue.

I use Quicken for Mac and I'm having the same issue with my Citi / Shell Mastercard. I'm able to authorize access from Citi to Quicken and got an email stating:

"As requested on 2025-04-07, you have given Quicken access to your Shell account information."

However I also get the below error message from Quicken and I can't actually download anything:

    An unexpected error occurred.

    Please try again later.

    Care Code: FDP-350

    Details:

    PAUTH_INVALID_TOKEN

    Bad response from provider

I called Citi and was told that they no longer allow downloads to Quicken, but that didn't seem right so I don't know where to go from here. Thanks for any guidance.

I was eventually able to link my ExxonMobil card from Citi. The system would not let me be either logged-on to their website at the same time or have another browser tab open from a previous logon. Further, when I got the "try again later" message, I had to manually delete all cookies on that page from citi (using the icon at the left of the URL) and then close that tab. When I executed the process again, it was successful.

Although as I posted earlier, I had success with Firefox (my default browser), even though I had neglected to disable/uninstall my extensions first (and I have 15 of them running). Apparently, simply waiting a day and then trying again to connect fixed my problem with my Best Buy/Citi credit card account.

Along with everyone else here, I've been struggling with getting my Citi Sears card working for the last 2+ weeks and had tried a variety of suggestions given here and along the way received virtually every error that has been mentioned at various times. My System - Latest version of Quicken, completely patched Windows 11, default browser is Chrome with fairly common security settings, and a couple plugins.

Here's what just finally solved it for me. Changed my default browser to a plain vanilla Firefox Browser (make sure you either use the Windows "Set Default" button at the top of the Default Browser screen, or set it for all the relevant file types and http & https). Then I went through the Quicken Add Online Account function and then linked to my existing Citi account. That's it. Worked like a charm. Something about Chrome and/or my Chrome settings - probably multiple things.
