Can I do a sub-category of a sub-category?
I have a category MEDICAL and a sub category for MEDICINE. My questions is can I do a sub category for the medicine? Right now it shows up in category MEDICAL:MEDICINE and in the memo box I put the person's name. Can I set it up under category so it says MEDICAL:MEDICINE:JOE or MEDICAL:MEDICINE:SUE so I can print a report specifically for one person or the other? Right now when I print my reports both people come up on one report.

Yes, you can make multiple levels of subcategories.
But generally a better way to separate expenses by person is to use Tags. Then rather than creating a whole bunch of multi-level subcategories, you just put Joe or Sue in the Tag field.
Then you can easily customize reports to include one or both Tags. Also you can set the Banking Transaction and Cash Flow reports to subtotal by Tag.
If the Tag column is not displayed in your account register, click on the gear at the top right of the register, select Columns to show in register, and put a checkmark next to Tag.

Definitely use Tags, they keep your category structure from getting out of hand. These same Tags can be used to separate other categories that you want to track/separate for Joe and Sue.
I use Tags to separate auto expenses based on which vehicle it is. I create a new Tag for each vacation trip we take rather than creating another sub-cat so that I know what its total cost.

Another reason to use tags. There are 2 meds that my wife & I both take, and an MD that we both see.
If categories were used, all 3 of those would be duplicated. With tags, there's 1 of each.

I almost always prefer use of categories in place of tags. For me it turns out much better at summarizing in reports than using tags does. I find the use of Tags in reports to be rather cumbersome and I often need to export the reports to Excel to get it set up the way I want.
