Show Reinvested dividends/gains dollar amount in Cash In and Cash Out columns [14 Votes]

In QFM 2017, when a reinvest dividend or capital gain transaction is downloaded from the investment house, the "Description" field will say something like "XXX shares @ YYY", but there appears to be no field in the register that reports the dollar value of the transaction, i.e. XXX*YYY. This is obviously important from a tax standpoint. Quicken for Windows reports the dollar value in the "Amount" field, and QFM should as well.

I have the same problem, with QFM 2016.  The dollar value shows up if the "Type" is "Buy," but not for "Reinvest dividend."   Makes no sense.

I know this is a 1 year old suggestion, but it is the answer to several reporting oddities and is obviously correct. Can we dust off this idea and vote it up for the a near future version?

For Reinvestment Dividend transactions, I wish the cash amount showed up in both the Cash In (from the Div) and Cash Out (for the Buy) columns. That would leave the net Amount 0.00 as it should be, but make the total cash involved visible. As it is now, I don't know how to find that except to open the Edit dialog for each transaction which is a nuisance if you just went to get a rough idea of a bunch of dividend amounts quickly.

    p.s.
Other posts have suggested splitting Reinvestment transactions into separate Div and Buy transactions. I prefer to keep the single transaction since that's the way they appear in my brokerage statements.

That is how QM2007 shows it...Cash In and Cash Out show up but balance is not affected.

BTW, there is a whole discussion on this topic here:

How about pulling a quick report showing Dividend Income transaction details?
For example, run the Tax Summary report and scroll down to the "_DivInc" category. That shows how much cash you received.

That is a good tip for a work-around, just not practical when for everyday use browsing through the registers.

Actually, I have found out now, that clicking "Share Balance" in the columns dialog box at the bottom of investment transactions will show the actual re-invested share balances just like Q2007, so now I am satisfied that the new Quicken will be as good as the old Q2007.

Unless I'm misunderstanding this feature request, this already exists. In version 5.12, release in August 2019, Investment Amount was added as an optional column for investment registers. For a reinvested dividend, it shows the dollar amount of the transaction, even though there is no cash amount involved.

The Investment Amount = number of shares x share price.

Unless I've misunderstood what's being requested here, I believe this can be marked as Implemented.
