I would strongly suggest that this is a temporary workaround to be utilized only when Quicken is open. Leaving AVAST shields down for an extended period of time is not a good idea. The best solution is to keep your AV software updated.

Brought up Quicken this am; there was an update. Avast still sent the usual notification. Then I went to Avast and updated my virus definitions -- there was an update there as well. Shut down Quicken and brought it back up. This time it came up with no exceptions after the Avast virus update. Looks like the issue was resolved by Avast. Quicken says nothing about this in their release notes for their update.

Ok All, It looks like Quicken came out with a patch last night 9/22/2022 that fixes the issue as I was able to open Quicken today with no issues. Please note that before opening Quicken I installed all virus and program updates as of today for AVG as well, BEFORE opening up Quicken and applying the patch.

Based upon the message we all were getting from our virus protection programs regarding Malware I would think Intuit / Quicken would want to reassure their customers that our data was not breached. As of yet I have seen no explanation from Quicken and yet have high hopes that Senior personnel at Intuit Quicken would recognize that as the keeper of some of our most sensitive financial information they have an obligation (if not a common sense responsibility) to let the customer base know if any data was at risk of exposure based upon this malware threat identified by multiple Malware / Virus protection software systems.

I updated both Quicken & AVG yesterday (9/21) but that didn't help. I also filed a suspected "false-positive" report with AVG. Overnight, AVG updated the virus definitions to 220922-2 and the problem appears to be gone.

Been on 2 similar thread(s) since problem started early on. Tried a couple workaround/solutions, then decided to wait until Q and Avast looked at problem and presented solutions. After several of the posts since yesterday, I updated both my Q and Avast to latest versions today and virus def'ns today and hoped problem would go away. It did for about 10 minutes while running Q but then reappeared. I solved the problem by completely uninstalling Avast, ran CCleaner/registry clean to remove some remnants of Avast, going to the Avast website and downloading and reinstalled latest version (ver 22.9.6034 [Build 22.9.7754.734]) and defn's (220922-2). Now Q seems to be running fine and I've done some updates and backups to test and it is still running.....and hopefully fixed....for now.

As what I hope is a final observation: since my problems were resolved after my AVG virus definitions were updated early this morning and I have not updated Quicken with either a new update and am still running on the version and build I had when this all started, I think we can consider it resolved and was a virus definition issue with AVAST & AVG.

SOLUTION FOUND: This is an issue with AVAST. Turn AVAST OFF. Then open quicken. The error is gone. The turn AVAST back on and the error is still gone.

Avast has a free update for the free version ... check for the latest Avast program update. I was getting the same runtime error. After updating Avast the error no longer appears.

I updated AVG Antivirus Free yesterday and this Quicken problem has reappeared this morning

You are not alone. Me, too! Only my Virus Definitions were updated (everyday). For me, the new Avast One update is pending. I'm still on the Sept 13 update.

This error is back for me also beginning 23-Oct-2022. Not sure what caused it. What's the latest thinking on resolution? Uninstall and reinstall AVG?

Same thing here; had this problem some weeks back, gone, now back. Quicken Premier on Windows 10. Quicken, the OS, and anti-virus all up-to-date, but still errors every time I launch the app.

Same here with Windows 11 up to date. Updated Avast and problem went away. This is getting old Mr. Quicken.

Hey, I have the same issue. Don't hold your breath. Remember how many years it took before alt-tabbing away from the Quicken window and back allowed you to pick up right where you were. Have updated both Q and AVG and false-positive infection alert continues.

I am experiencing the same problem. However when I disable Avast the problem is corrected but immediately returns when reactivated

I am having the problem with Quicken Premier software running on my PC. The program is downloaded to my PC but accesses the internet for updates, file sync, etc.

Five weeks later and the same non-responses from Quicken. I so wish there was another option for financial software as the ...and yes, I have reported the problem using Help > Report A Problem.

Same here, and very similar issue that occurred last month.. It's back again with this latest update. I just "disable" Avast for when I want to use Quicken, but this is getting annoying.

I posted this in a new thread, but since no answers, thought I'd post here too. I saw discussions about this from September, but didn't see any resolution. Yesterday, I opened and closed Quicken in the morning without a problem. Then, the next time, got this EO.Base.Runtime.Exception error. On occasion, also get a RUNDLL32 error, which AVG is investigating and has temporarily made an exception. This morning, Quicken opened just fine! Does anyone have any idea as to what's going on?

Hi. I just started getting this message today when I start Quicken.
It still seems to be working but with my heavy reliance on the software I want to make sure that there is not something I should be fixing.

I'm not sure how to get you the whole message. It is 12 pages long in word.

Similar problem here after last Quicken update. Had to shut down Quicken on prior episode today due to endless loop of online update function and extremely slow response from entire computer. After performing full virus and malware scan with AVAST and MalWareBytes, with no new threats found, AVAST error message attached recurred IMMEDIATELY on re-starting Quicken, then I received the following runtime error in Quicken. After closing Quicken error message, I was able to run Quicken, but whole computer, especially Quicken, is still very sluggish since last update:
