Product Enhancement Request: Please add a "Make Deposit" function like in QuickBooks, to enable users to make a deposit consisting of cash plus checks, or multiple checks! The only way to do this now in Quicken is to create another account like "Undeposited Checks", enter all the deposit items into that account, then transfer that deposit amount from the "Undeposited Checks" account into the "Checking Account". That's a really clunky workaround for a 2024 application!

Quicken is halfway there in that it just needs to add 2 columns to a split transaction One for the who from and one to indicate if it is Cash, Check etc.

Quick Books already has the program to use this information for a deposit and to print it. You could use your own resources to update this.

I've been using QuickBooks Pro for Windows since 2009 and I love it! I recently sold the business and began using Quicken for my personal finances.

This may seem like a simple request, but an issue is that currently banking transactions can be split among several Categories but each transaction can only have one Payee. When multiple checks are deposited, presumably we would want each check to have its own Payee so that you can report on who you have received the payments from.

Currently using a manual "Undeposited checks" account or entering each check as a separate deposit are the best ways to handle this, but it is cumbersome. It would be nice to have an easy way to enter multiple checks with separate Payees and other details and associate them with a single deposit.

This would be a very useful feature for people who are using Quicken to manage the accounts for a club, non-profit, sports team, scout troop, etc.

Now, I haven't used QB for more than a few years … but QB previously used something akin to an "Undeposited Checks" account.

That's where I got the idea for incorporating such into my Q usage.

    Product Enhancement Request:

Please add a "Make Deposit" function to Quicken Classic Desktop, like the function already in QuickBooks, to enable users to make a deposit consisting of cash plus checks, or multiple checks! The only way to do this now in Quicken Classic Desktop is to create another account like "Undeposited Checks", enter all the deposit items into that account, then transfer that deposit amount from the "Undeposited Checks" account into the "Checking Account". That's a really clunky workaround for a modern 2025 application!

You already have the program code in QuickBooks to make this happen. You could use your own resources to add this function to Quicken Classic Desktop. (See attached picture)

This could be a useful enhancement, but one issue is that for several years now Quicken has been an independent company and does not share code or development resources with Intuit.

I forgot that Quicken was now a separate company. The developers should still be able to discern how to implement this functionality.

Does the requested new function in Quicken also include the capability of making either or both of

    • print a quick Summary Deposit report for this daily batch of deposits
    • print a Deposit Slip formatted in a way that is acceptable to the bank?

Unless, like Q & QB checks, such Deposit slip was preprinted with the account number printed using Magnetic Ink, I doubt it would be "acceptable to the bank".

I never used QB so I don't really understand this deposit feature and function.

Is this a QB feature/function that will generate a deposit slip that can be used when making the deposit to the bank?

Or is it more like a Quicken Income Reminder with the category split to account for multiple receipts….but also with additional information in it like the Payor names, Payment Method, Check Number, etc.? And then when the deposit is actually made the Income Reminder would be entered into the appropriate account register?

Further note that the MICR line info on a deposit slip MIGHT not be the same as on a check.

Since deposit slips don't go outside of the FI, the Transit/Routing number may differ (or be non-existent) and the account number may ever differ.

Looking at a deposit slip for my Fidelity Investments MMF checking account, there's NO T/R number and the account number contains a letter, as does my account account number on my monthly statements. For the checks, that letter gets converted to a number and the checks have a 4-digit prefix that isn't on the statement or on the deposit slips.

Intuit might have the code to do it, but Quicken, Inc doesn't. Quicken and Quickbooks are owned by two different companies, so what you are suggesting is not just an easy change.
