Rebalance porfolio button not working

Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭✭

Hello

Starting today, when I click the Rebalance portfolio button on the Allocation page under the Investing tab, it no longer shows me the calculated amounts to rebalance, but just a window with the title What is Rebalancing, that just shows the same pie charts and percentages in each asset class.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Ed

Whenever "web pages" *which is what the Rebalancer window is) don't display right the best shot at fixing this is to remove this folder (with Quicken not running):

    C:\ProgramData\Quicken\Cache

The latest update changed this web page and is probably hung up on some problem with the data in the cache.

But note this problem that I'm another person is having with the new Rebalancer:

I have the same problem now. The old display of how many dollars are in each asset class and how many dollars you need to move to match your goal was very useful and needs to be restored.

I am seeing what appears to be the same issue. I am still running R60.20 and when I go to Investing > Allocations and click on Rebalance Portfolio I see the text at the top followed by Steps 1 and 2. Previously there was a Step 3 followed by a very useful table with the headings Asset Class / Current % / Target % / Current Value etc.

The table is missing but the Actual and Target pie charts are still present. The window has no vertical scroll bar.

I exited Quicken and renamed C:\Program Data\Quicken\Cache. The folder was re-created when I restarted Quicken but but it did not resolve the problem.

I didn't get a chance to address this problem or look at these responses until today, but when I started Quicken it updated to version R61.17 and the probelm seems resolved.

    Thanks

I am running R61.16. Yesterday I saw this issue. Earlier this morning it looked like the issue was resolved. Just checked, again, now and the issue has returned. Seems like there is some random(?) instability with this feature.

@Jim_Harman FWIW, my R60.20 is behaving itself. 3 steps listed, table with 8 basic asset classes (no custom as expected), pie charts for actual and target. Scroll bar on the window.

Update: I checked on my test system, also running R60.20, and the same issue is present on that system too, and also with a test file.

I accepted the upgrade to R61.17 on the test system and now with the test file, the the Rebalancer window looks like this

The rebalancing table is back but in a different position and with gibberish in the Value and Adjustment to reach Target columns.

Jim: Yes I am also seeing the same. New position on page but gibberish padding in front of values still.

@Quicken Kristina This just to let "Quicken Inc" know that I got two emails today, both went to my Junk Email folder:

Given the content, and that they knew that right email address, I do believe these are "legit", but I don't think this kind of communication should be done by Quicken Inc or trusted by a Quicken user. If they need a sanitized data file, they should request it through Help → Report a problem (and be able to get access to it that way). Spoofing email is just way too easy to be trusted.

I have sent a sanitized copy of my data file. Note when I say "copy" I mean a copy created by Quicken's File → Copy or Backup → Create a copy or template function. This is a safeguard for this problem which has yet to be addressed:

Note to other users that might be submitting a sanitized data file to Quicken Inc not only do I recommend sending a copy created using the Quicken Copy to remove the online services (which sanitized should have done!), recommend going to each account and make sure the account number doesn't show. Neither of these operations change the account numbers. Chase does a good job of hiding this start with, but my wife's 401K account with Merril Lynch still had the full account number in the copied/sanitized data file. So, I deleted this information before using Report a Problem to send it to Quicken Inc.

I just tried opening this data file on my wife's computer and it gives me the same result, so it might actually be something with the data files, and not just some Windows text kind of settings. Note that both my computer and my wife's are pretty much vanilla Windows as far as how they are setup.
