Quicken downloads all dividends as Qualified dividends in the Re-invested Dividends downloaded from TD Ameritrade. How do you separate Qualified from Taxable Dividends when using the Re-Invested Dividends box?

Quicken has a Category for qualified dividends but no direct mechanism to record dividends as qualified. In fact, for mutual funds this information is often not known until it is reported on the 1099-DIV.

I use the Misc. option of the Div Income dialog, and then use _QualDivInc as the category.

You used to be able to reclassify dividends from the _Div Category to the _QualDivInc Category by entering a negative dollar amount using the Div action and then using the MiscInc action and the _QualDivInc Category for the same (positive) amount.  But you can't enter negative dollar amounts using the Div action anymore.

It would really be nice if Quicken would make this simple change a priority. Just remove "Mid-term cap gain dist:" and add a "Qualified Div:" entry box. Quicken users are pretty sophisticated with many investment accounts and complicated tax situations. They are not people who want to track their checking account. So we'd really appreciate a way to do this. Thanks for considering it.

    Hello @Aurelius,

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Community, however, since this is an older post that was originally created back in February of 2021, it is less likely to receive an answer now.

I would suggest creating a new post for better visibility and since you're sharing a feature request, I also suggest making it an Idea post. This way other users who have the same or a similar request can vote on your idea.

Our Development and Product teams frequently use our idea posts in order to improve Quicken and implement new features requested by customers.

    Thank you!
