@Quicken Anja , thank you for including my feature request, it is greatly appreciated.
The ability to create reports based on the Memo field is so critical to me that without it I will be forced to maintain by Parallels license and run Quicken for Windows, it is that fundamental.

@JoelC I definitely wasn't saying that Search could completely replace the need for reports using memo text as a criterion; to the contrary, I've written that I think this is a desirable and needed feature.
I was only saying that for some needs, Search can plausibly replace what older Quicken Mac and Windows versions have done via Reports. For instance, if I want to know when we last bought a hot water heater, a Search for "water heater" is as effective as a report with the criterion "Memo contains 'water heater' ".
But there are many instances where this is not sufficient, because of the need for a second criterion or because Search returns only who transactions while reports return only the matching split lines.

@jacobs, I am in complete agreement on both; namely 1. search is adequate for basic / some needs and 2. there is a need for Quicken to implement this feature. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

The status of this Idea has been changed to Planned as it has been accepted by our Product and Development team for future implementation. However, Quicken's product development teams do not provide an estimate of when new/enhanced features will be completed and released.

Great news for longtime Quicken 2007 and all Quicken Mac users: this took a lot of waiting, but the developers have finally delivered the ability to use Memo/Notes field text as a report criterion in the version 7.7 release! Yea!
Because it's easily missed, I'll point out that it's oddly buried at the bottom of the Advanced tab in Edit Reports. But it's there, and it works.
(Now someone can start the next Idea thread to add onto what they've built here to be able to search for "match all words" versus "match any words" and other enhancements to Memo/Notes field filtering in reports! 🤣)

This is a good move in the right direction. BUT it is only partially useful :-\ Sadly, the comments about using multi-word searches, intended as a "match all words" were clearly ignored.
Also, not sure why it has to be treated as an "advanced" feature… from a user's perspective, there is nothing "advanced" to search in a specified field.

@jacobs, thank you for highlighting this new feature. I would have missed it. I agree that while it's there and it works, it's certainly not where you'd expect to find it. I hope the developers find a way to treat the memo/notes field like the same first-class citizen as tags, categories, and payees. It's so counterintuitive to me that memo/notes isn't grouped with them! But I suppose now we have at least some basic functionality, and that's better than before.

It would have been even more out of place on the "Accounts", "Categories", "Tags", or "Payees" tabs. The only other thing they really could have done would be to make a new "Memo" tab just for that one search field. As it is, the "Advanced" tab is more like a "Miscellaneous" tab, but "Advanced" just sounds better I suppose.
