Quicken still connects and claims success, but I still end up with a zero balance.
TSP is not the problem. I am able to download the numbers with USAA and Credit Karma. Not a problem with them.
Only Quicken. It can be done.
Why are you not doing it?

Just checking in to keep the discussion active. Q is downloading account information, but it still has the issue with rounding "errors" and creating a new security every time it accesses the account.  Note: the "additional" securities cannot be deleted because per Q "These securities are used by active transactions and cannot be removed."  Anybody having the same issues?  Or, found a fix?

I still can't get anything other than a zero dollar balance. I am paying for a subscription and I expect poor programing to be fixed in a timely manner

@Thompsoe85 You can certainly post your complaints here, but it would be more effective for people to contact Quicken Support and press them for progress on this issue. There's nothing anyone in this forum can do to help get it resolved, and the programmers aren't seeing complaints posted here.

my TSP is back to zero again as well. i would really like to have consistency in this. Can you provide a way to rapidly/easeily manually update the balance

So, interestingly, TSP downloads are now working for my TSP account but not my husband's. So bizarre. I've double checked that I have the same settings for both and tried creating a new account entirely for my husband's TSP, but his just still just comes in as a zero.

This is an ongoing problem. This thread is recent. Some have been battling Quicken for years over this bug. I keep calling for help and get the same old tired "it's being worked". I pay for this subscription and I expect results. So far nothing.

Still trying. Fail. This has been going on for years. Fix it.

Not working again for last 3 days on version 8.1.2.

  • Quicken Mac Subscription Member

I can confirm not working on version 8.1.2. Here is the error message received:

This connection failed, and will not update:

Thrift Savings Plan(xxxx@xxx.xxx) - Connection to institution timed out.  Please try again.

To retry the failed connection, you'll need to start a new update.

Timeout errors are frequently caused by institutions that are experiencing unusual load or blocking connections during peak times.  In these cases, you should try again later.

Just a general note. Financial connection problems are seldom related to the version of Quicken you are running. After all, with an "unchanged version" the problem came up, indicating that the problem is on a server or at the financial institution. As such, one shouldn't expect these kinds of problems to be fixed just because a new version of Quicken is released.

And as for an estimate of when it will be fixed. Not only is it against Quicken Inc's policy to state such things, but I also personally don't believe that they have the insight to do so.

Quicken Inc pays Intuit to maintain the transaction downloading services. So, they are a customer of Intuit, and they can request all they like, but like you, at the end of the day they are a customer. And since Intuit used to own Quicken, we also have an insight into their policy about giving estimates. They don't do that either.

But on top of all of that, the most likely reason for this problem is the TSP changed something. Which probably means that Intuit has to work with TSP do resolve the problem, and you can pretty much sure they wouldn't be in a hurry to work on a "Quicken connection problem".
