Quicken for Mac 2016 Release 3.5.2 Discussion

Just to join in that it's happening to me as well. Just updated this morning and now have accounts going back to the 90's showing up. What a PITA. The only saving grace is that it didn't adjust/change the settings on the Reports box. It made it a WHOLE lot easier to know which accounts at a glance needed to be re-hidden in Lists.Mark S said:Just updated to 3.5.2 and had to rebuild all the parameter for my accounts. Some I had hidden and wasn't using. What a pain!

FYI no transactions were re-downloaded, so this really does feel like a data display issue. Anyway, back up and running now.Doug Benson said:This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Transactions for 2016 have vanished from my accounts!.
Using Mac version 3.5.2 (Build 35.13202.100) - nearly all of my 2016 data has vanished. Completely gone, across my most active savings and checking accounts. Accounts that i use constantly now show no data at all after October 2015! This is, of course, disastrous for me.
Has this happened to others? Anything I can do?0 -
The "staged releases" philosophy is infuriating. Any company that uses their customers as lab rats deserves all of the backlash we're seeing in this forum.Tim Moberly said:Just installed 3.5.2 update and now accounts that have been hidden for past 10 years are now visible. What a mess! The release notes mentioned something about fixing a bug in this area, but you've clearly created a mess for me, and probably others. My only option now is to manually go through dozens of old accounts and re-hide them.
I've been a Quicken user since 1992. Deeply regretting switching from the Windows to the 2016 Mac version this past year...it's been horrible, now it's too late to go back. Please get your act together Inuit! Are you even testing these patches?0 -
I feel that Quicken has removed too much of the manual capability that was in earlier releases. You are trying to second guess the customer - but we know how to use this product! For example, the 3.5.2 release does not recognize a negative balance. I always reconcile my credit card account, and, by its nature, has a negative balance before I transfer my payment.Bob Harris said:When will it be out? Will it let us set the prior balance in the window to agree with our calculated balance for Reconciling? That's the dilemma for me. My balance was always perfect til 3.51 which created a balance I couldn't change
I also want to make a point about the start fresh feature (which is you can find on the gear next to the DONE button after you choose to reconcile using the your statement balance): For users who have maintained correct balances, but also have a few unchecked entries from months ago, this will throw you balance off because Quicken makes the correction without allowing you to over-ride their decision. Again, part of this problem is because the 3.5.2 release does not deal well with a negative balance, but makes it a positive balance, throwing off the reconciliation.0 -
I apologize for cluttering this excellent troubleshooting thread with one tiny add-on: To Quicken: This shows a need to closely examine your priorities about which connection method serves customer needs best and that the selections be clear and convenient!Val Anne Beth Welch said:This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Since downloading the latest update for Quicken 2016 for Mac (3.5.2), I cannot do....
New transactions from my Chase account will not download since the latest update to 3.5.2, Quicken 2016 for Mac. I have restarted Quicken, restarted my computer, deactivated downloads and reactivated, restarted my computer again.....nothing works. Note, this seems to happen EVERY time there is an update. I HATE THIS.0 -
We have not found any issues in reconcile yet after working through the issue with lots of customers. As mentioned in previous posts, the new reconcile exposes issues that the previous reconcile didn't so the issues most people are seeing have been in their accounts forever but QEM, 2015 and 2016 didn't catch them and tell you about it. This is why we switched the new reconcile to work like Q2007 and QWin. To get a better understanding of how we're coming up with your starting balance, add the Clr column and then sort by reconciled by clicking on the header. Your running balance for the last reconciled transaction should be the same number we display as an opening balance. This is the True value of your Quicken balance. If the number doesn't match your bank then the issue may be an erroneously marked reconciled transaction in the past. If the number is off by some relatively small value then do a search for that value and you may discover the bad reconciled transactions. If there are more than one transaction that makes up the difference then that might be a lot harder to find. QEM, 2015 and 2016 reconcile didn't actually take into account past reconciled transactions and ignored them in tis calculation which could lead to errors being missed. It only looked at unreconciled transactions.Bob Harris said:When will it be out? Will it let us set the prior balance in the window to agree with our calculated balance for Reconciling? We're trying to track this down because we can't reproduce this in house in a reliable manor. Anything special about these hidden accounts that reappear?Mark S said:Just updated to 3.5.2 and had to rebuild all the parameter for my accounts. Some I had hidden and wasn't using. What a pain!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Did the update and it is a real step backwards..
I did the update on the 17th and my checking reverted to unclearing all transactions. After spending over a hour with support on what to do, the best solution given was on the forum by checking everything and going back and hunting down the ones not cleared. Now, I have lost the "balance" feature that gives me my balance in the ledger right after the transaction. I have used quicken since 2001 and I have to tell you, this update has cost me unnecessary hours of work and is not working right. It may be time to look somewhere else. What the heck is going on? This should have been tested more thoroughly. I did the update today expecting that the initial bugs would be fixed.....but i still can't see my balance in the ledger, like I used to. I have the column. I can see the title "balance" but it is blank.
3.5.2 is what I am on. I am beyond disgusted.0 -
Specific bank issues are not typically related to Quicken or Quicken updates but have to do with a change at the bank. For example Wells Fargo just changed its website which broke Quicken Connect downloads for Wells Fargo for a couple of weeks. I have Chase and just added a new account using Direct Connect and it seems to be working for me after I validated my identity. In validating my account I just went to the Chase website and it looks like they updated their website too. Possibly Quicken Connect accounts are broken because of this change.RCinNJ said:Just downloaded. I had hoped it would fix a problem where one of my Chase accounts will not download, but there is no change. Account Status still shows the account as never having completed a download even after going through the set up that works for several other checking, savings and credit card accounts at Chase.
Disappointed because I previously wasted 2 hours with tech support (waiting forever and then talking with screen share). I have tried both phone and chat support and both have involved hour waits. I did get some issues fixed, but not this one. The last tech was worthless. Had me going around in circles and then cut me off without notice when they reached their 5 pm (Pacific Time) ending time. Had the nerve to mark the issue "solved"!!!0 -

When you say parameters are talking about preferences getting lost or passwords?Dave said:This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Update to 3.5.2.
I just updated to the 3.5.2 build and once again I have to enter all the parameters I previously set in Quicken. Why can’t the new releases be an “upgrade” instead of a new release? Does anyone else have this problem or is there something I should be doing different when a new release comes out?0 -
Typically issues with specific accounts have to do with changes at the bank vs Quicken. For example Wells Fargo changed their website which broke all downloads for Wells Fargo for a couple of weeks. Did Umpqua Bank change their web site?Kathy Couch said:This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Umpqua Bank no longer downloads since 3.5.2 update.
Updated to 3.5.2. Umpqua Checking now does not download, despite my resetting.I finally had to drag a report directly downloaded from the bank into Quicken. Also, for some reason, beginning with the last update, Quicken believes I have $700 more dollars than my bank does. At this point I am really hoping to stumble upon some other financial software that actually works with my bank and my Mac.0 -

Having issues with updated reconciliation process. When balancing against statement, in new reconcile window Quicken is properly listing cleared items and shows proper balance, but when pressing "finish" items that where uncleared but within the statement date are now "reconciled" and throughs new reconciled balance off. Happened on both checking accounts and charge card accounts. Needed to go back to version prior to 3.5.1 update0 -

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Online billpay will only allow a transfer to another account.
When trying to pay a bill online, the only option I am given is to transfer money to another account. The date will not change from today and there is no "pay now" option. This worked prior to the recent upgrade0 -
Umpqua's site appears exactly the same, although they are planning to on September 11. This was exactly after I updated to the new version. I haven't been back to Quicken since I posted this, as I lost 2 hours of my day just trying to get my information to match. The other odd thing is during that time, I just said to reconcile everything to match the online balance, but now Quicken believes I have $300 LESS than my online balance, as opposed to a bunch more. I just want them to match again and to download easily.Kathy Couch said:This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Umpqua Bank no longer downloads since 3.5.2 update.

Bill, I'll respectfully disagree. You're saying you expect them to create perfect software releases before releasing to customers. They are a small software company, with thousands of users who have myriad differences in their data files and who interface with more than ten thousand financial institutions. Users who are clamoring for many additional features, the absence of which also engender frustration. Yes, they should test more carefully. No, I am not defending all the buggy releases we've experienced. But unfortunately, the only way to discover some problems is to get a broader base of users to try using it.Tim Moberly said:Just installed 3.5.2 update and now accounts that have been hidden for past 10 years are now visible. Every software developer does some form of staged release. Apple has tens of hundreds of thousands of people testing iOS 10 right now. But, you will rightly say, in Apple's case, it's specifically called a public beta test. In Quicken's case, it's a "staged release". It's not really intended to be a "lab rat" test; Quicken only releases when they think the software is sound -- but they have learned that not all problems show up despite lots of internal testing and beta testing with a small group of users. So instead of releasing to all users at once, they release to a thousand or two thousand users and wait a day or two to insure there are no unexpected problems before releasing to more users. And in the case of 3.5.2, even that approach didn't result in catching the problems with hidden accounts re-appearing, which didn't explode until the software was in wide release. (Your complaint, therefore, should be that they didn't do the staged release slowly enough!)
This leads to a solution perhaps most Quicken users ought to learn: do NOT download a Quicken update the moment it's available. Spare yourself any problems. Let some other users get it, try it, and find out if there are any significant flaws. I never download macOS updates or iOS update on the day they are released, because I don't want to be burned, as early adopters sometimes are. Apply the same approach to Quicken releases: wait a few days and check this forum before accepting an update. Just a suggestion.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19930 -
The problem is definitely with Quicken 2016 v 3.5.2 and NOT Chase. I have six Chase Accounts. Two of them were added on Saturday. Now, when I update All Online Accounts, four of them are reported as "Dead" (Download error 324.) Of course, they are not dead, and are clearly visible at Chase.com. I have tried adjusting the settings, using Web download, etc. and nothing resolves the problem. If I try to import Quicken transaction files that I have downloaded from Chase.com, they are not added to my Chase account(s) in Quicken, even if I have changed the Chase account settings to Web connect. And when I try to re-setup the Chase accounts, the setup window returns a random combination of the six accounts, asks me to 'link' them to existing accounts, then promptly forgets the linking. No transactions have been downloaded since Saturday, August 22nd.RCinNJ said:Just downloaded. A question for the "Employees" – can I revert to a Quicken data backup that I have and see if that works without screwing up the record of what's been downloaded to all my accounts?
Or, is there a way to revert to the immediate previous version of Quicken Mac? This is a serious problem for me.0 -
In trying to update to Quicken 2016, v. 3.5.2, I get this when trying to open by files after updating: "An error occurred during persistent store migration."

I am having a problem as well. I have always been able to reconcile my account to zero manually. I have never had a problem before. I saw the button that says, "start fresh," but I'm afraid I'm going to throw my whole account off by doing that.Bob Harris said:When will it be out? @Doug Bish, we apologize for the inconvenience. I've entered a bug into our database for review by the team.Doug Bish said:This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Can't edit Bill Reminders schedule in full screen mode.
Just updated to Quicken for Mac 3.5.2. When I try to enter a bill reminder, I get no way to edit the recurrence. Only a calendar display. Quicken will only schedule the recurring reminder monthly based on today's date. Can't edit the recurrence because nothing is displayed in the edit window but the calendar. When trying to grab a screen shot, I found out the problem only occurs in full screen mode. When you return to window mode, the edit tools re-appear.0 -
