I am another new user stuck on 4.3.1. I purchased the downloadable version from Amazon.com on Jan 1. It automatically updated during the installation. It is now on 4.3.1, and Quicken > Check for Updates reports 4.3.1 is the newest release available.

Hope Quicken gets this fixed ASAP.

Just started working on my taxes.  Can't seem to get the category "IRA Draw" to appear on the tax report.  The category is identified in my category list as tax related.  If I search "all transactions" for the category, it shows up as expected.  At one point in a previous release I think this category was properly showing up in the tax report. Am I wrong?

    Yes, it is properly assigned.

Does anyone have a status on what the issue is that caused them to stop the update to 4.4.1 from being able to be download?

Every time I open the program I get that pop-up window telling me I have to sign in again.  I close the window and keep going, no problem. Apologies if this has been previously reported.

I've noticed an issue in 4.4.1 that I hadn't seen before.  I added a new subcategory (Stacy Inheritance Used:Taxes), but that subcategory isn't shown in a report where it is clearly selected.  The category was selected before I opened the customization window. See the picture below.  This has got to be a bug.  Also, notice how the rows are offset up?  That issue shows up when you scroll to the bottom of the page.

You should probably start a new thread for this issue so it gets the proper attention.

BTW, tax report printed from a previous QMac version, same data, does show the IRA Draw.

    Which version? 2007, 2016, 2017 v3.3.1, etc.??

I get this and it won't take my login and password.  I changed the password thinking that was the problem. It still won't work. I tried to set up a new account and it says all my emails are registered and they aren't.

Sorry, I don't remember.  I think it was one of the 2017 v3's

That helps. This could be one of v4.4.1's unintended consequences. Hopefully that will make it easier to fix quickly.

@Quicken Tamara....when I started today, it notified me of the 4.4.1 update.    I will check out the new features and hope that some of the other quirks get addressed!  I am still using QW14 until I am sure of how this all works!

I am glad to see some slow progress on Quicken for Mac.  After I moved to Mac after decades using Quicken on PC ́s, I tried Quicken for Mac and had to return it.  First of all, the lack of at least the same support for foreign currency as Quicken for Windows has (like supporting cash transfers beetween accounts) is a critical issue for me.   The other big issue was the terrible import of the QDF Windows file.  Several Stock and Fund balances were way off, attachments were not imported, and other assorted truly bad errors.  It was unusable.  I hope all those critical issues get fixed soon.

You have identified many of the obstacles that are preventing some users from migrating over.

You may want to add your vote to requests found on the List of Obstacles and Hindrances for Migrating from QM2007 or QWin to Quicken for Mac.
This is a special list that draws attention to requests specifically related to topics which you have pointed out. Click the underlined link to visit that page to see the selection and add your VOTE to promote that list, to encourage others to vote. Then click on the links there to vote on the specific requests.

I also highly recommend that you browse through the IDEAS section of this forum and VOTE for the request of each of the missing features to be added back into Quicken for Mac....to help direct the priorities of the developers.

This will help make the transition easier for you when you are ready to upgrade by seeking to have the features you are used to in Quicken end up in the latest Mac version.

To do that click on this underlined link, following the instructions then VOTE to your heart's content:

    Marcus,

Have not seen 4.4.1 yet? Is it still in progress?

Today (1/12), my QM2017 updated to v4.4.1, via an auto notice an update was available and which I completed.

    image

The release notes seemed to be pretty much the same as when v4.4.1 was released 3 weeks ago (from this writing).

It would have been better disclosure for Quicken to acknowledge, in updated release notes, the reasons for pulling v4.4.1 from download and then, what changed in its re-release. ...Such would have better informed early adopters of v4.4.1 as to issues being worked on and those of us with v4.3.1 (and, the Check for Updates saying it was the most current version) could feel reassured the re-release of v4.4.1 corrected those issues.

Do not know why 4.4.1 was pulled, but, I installed it when it was first available and it is the same as your picture of the about screen re: version and build number.  That implies no changes since our build numbers are identical?

I believe the problem was with the back-end service that detects a user's copy of Quicken is out-of-date, not with the code of Quicken for Mac. I can't recall any time that they have made actual changes to the code and not incremented the version number. (That is, if they had fixed bugs or made any code changes, the version would have advanced to version 4.4.2 and the build number would be higher.)

As we're speculating about the reason(s) for the temporary pulling & hold of v4.4.1's download, highlights why Quicken should have nipped such by detailing in the 2d release notes.

If I'd installed the "1st" release (even if no use issues were subsequently evident), I'd be wondering if there was something at issue / risk with the "1st" release install that was remaining. ...Factually, one doesn't know as Quicken has been totally silent throughout.

Marcus, thank you for hosting this thread. I am going to lobby for my biggest problem. This has to do with how QM is not correctly keeping track of the Cash/Settlement/MMA fund in brokerage accounts (it is called different things, but is the source of money from which cash is added or removed when there are transactions in an account). From past and current posts it seems the problem goes back at least to QM2015 and has never been addressed. I assume this is not a problem with Quicken for Windows. My problem is at Vanguard.

I have posted on several threads including this one https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/issues-adding-shares-in-quicken-for-mac-2016 which includes screen shots. Please read through this thread! Thank you!

As there has still been no response on this issue I want to add this updated information that I have posted on another thread, but hope that it will be seen here by Marcus or other QM developers:

QM ('15, '16 and 2017) has a problem with tracking cash accounts at several different brokerage companies. I was on the phone yesterday with my brokerage (Vanguard) and with Quicken support. I spoke with the Vanguard tech who handles coordination with Quicken for Mac and Windows who says this is a known issue that Mac users and not Windows users experience and needs to be fixed by Quicken. The Quicken tech support person acknowledged that as it currently stands it would take at least 2 "corrective" transactions to fix each instance where there are changes to the settlement account (which at Vanguard is the Federal Money Market Fund). If you feel you have the same problem at your brokerage (or at Vanguard) please let the development team know this is something you believe needs to be fixed by the Quicken team. I am not aware of any acknowledgement by the Quicken for Mac team that this is a problem that needs to be addressed. Their development resources are limited and they will only address this problem if they feel there are a number of users who need this fixed.

pbGuy, they never "pulled" or held the 4.4.1 release, according to a member of the Quicken team. The problem was with the update delivery mechanism that prevented a small number of users from getting the update to 4.4.1. I have no information about what they eventually found and fixed, but there is no "new" 4.4.1 release to wonder about.

Ok... But my original, upgrade download of QM2017 (directly from Quicken on 12/29 - a week or so after v4.4.1 had been released) was v4.3.1 off Quicken's purchase server.

I downloaded QM2017 (directly from Quicken) a 2d time on the day of my first post as a test; and again, I received v4.3.1. ...I pointed that out in a follow-up to my 1st post a couple of weeks ago.

In both situations, these weren't instances of "checking for updates" through the software's "check for update mechanism."

I accept your explanation about the update delivery mechanism and there being no "new" version of v.4.4.1.

I'm also pointing out Quicken could easily have clarified the situation (and I think owed the Mac community such clarification) by addressing inquiries (there were several other than mine), as we were advising the download of a new, install file was v.4.3.1. ...When buying new software, one can rightfully expect to receive the latest, software version.

I agree that Quicken staff ought to communicate more here when users are reporting issues. It's not that they ignore issues; sometimes they track down and fix a problem – but fail to communicate to the user community what they have done. In this case, my speculation is that they thought it was a problem that affected only a very small number of users – so they reached out to a few users, found the problem, and fixed it. In the meantime, they left other users, (and those of us trying here to help those users) in the dark. In the end, the problem is solved, but the process is unnecessarily bumpy.
