What’s Going On Between Fidelity and Quicken?

Since the Fidelity Express Web Connect+ switch over, Quicken downloads share information in ReinDiV transactions incorrectly, rounding to two digits instead of importing the full three digits reported by Fidelity in their account information (i.e. 3.902 shares as 3.91 shares), which is not only incorrect rounding, yet also totally scrambles the information imported into Quicken, requiring manual corrections. As mentioned, those transactions are correctly reported by Fidelity. Quicken, please be so kind as to have an urgent look into this and related EWC+ matters. Thank you!

Hello @HKB,
Thank you for letting us know you're also seeing the issue with incorrect rounding. This issue has already been reported for further investigation and resolution. It is being investigated under CTP-13955, which covers the following issues:
- Missing accounts: Investment accounts not shown in the account linking screen, preventing setup or reconnection.
- Incorrect share balances: Share quantities downloaded with reduced precision (e.g., 2 decimal places instead of 3), leading to inaccurate holdings and potential placeholder entries.
- Misclassified securities: Money Market Funds (e.g., FDRXX, FZFXX, SPAXX) are being treated inconsistently—sometimes as cash, other times as holdings, or disappearing altogether.
- Transaction duplication: Historical transactions redownload as new entries and fail to match existing register data, forcing manual cleanup.
- Account display mode changes: Investment accounts that were previously set to “Complete” tracking revert to “Simple” without user action.
- Incorrect transaction placeholders: Cash management accounts show erroneous transactions with incorrect labels and values, sometimes doubling balances.
- CDs misrepresented as stocks: Certificates of Deposit are converted to stocks with inflated share quantities and distorted prices.
- Net worth discrepancies: All of the above lead to incorrect account balances and distorted net worth calculations.
Thank you!

Thank you so much! That was the best advice I've gotten on the forum in ages! Another few days and my database would be trash.
I wasn't sure of the date the new connection method was triggered, but I image both of my systems (C:\ drive) every day. I was able to restore my Tues., 7/29, Quicken database and update it online. Quicken now offered a new Fidelity connection: "zzz-Fidelity Investments - DC" which worked and correctly updated my Fidelity accounts.
It took me an hour to update all of my Quicken accounts since last Tuesday. This would have been a disaster if you hadn't agreed to my restoring a backup and go through the chore of updating all of the other accounts. Thanks so much again… 👍️
I had a similar situation years ago that ruined my database as far as counting my checking account in Net Worth reports. It had to do with years of payroll entries. I now still have to manually add in my Checking account with Net Worth reports.
It sure seems like there should some kind of alert system that Quicken would trigger when something like this happens. I don't expect them to know I'm with Fidelity, but an Alert should be issued to all subscribed users when their database is in jeopardy. Especially when there is no going back if you didn't know soon enough.

For all the people that like to treat the "Cash Mutual fund" as cash instead of a security, I encourage you go vote on this idea, since depending different factors you might lose that ability when you go to Express Web Connect +.

Hello @Quicken Kristina. Thank you, this is very helpful. I have one additional consideration for the investigation under CTP-13955: under Fidelity Netbenefits (401k/403b plans) Dividend Reinvestments are currently being downloaded as Dividend payments, not as ReinDiv transactions. It might have been noted before, yet just in case. Thank you, much appreciated!

Kristina, Please just add one more issue to this list. Since the updated connection, the download is NOT updating the bond prices in the portfolio. Prior to the transition it always used to. The stock and mutual fund prices are updated as before; just the bond prices are not downloading. Thanks.

According to the Quicken Development person I talked with a couple of nights ago, they know about this issue and think it is caused by the same issues being observed with brokered CDs. Brokered CDs (at least from Fidelity) are a type of Bond and are downloaded with the type being classified as Bonds.
With CDs, sometime the prices download with the correct price (~$100/CD), many times they download with what appears to be fractional CD shares prices (~$1/fractional share), sometimes they don't download at all. And the shares purchased and held are often (not always) switched from full shares to fractional shares (1% minimum of a full share).
He said he thinks he knows what might be causing this but he and his team still needed to prove out the theory.

Quicken Mac here. On Friday I got the message that I needed to update my connection method. Followed the steps as instructed. Blew out all my transactions since February and replaced them with generic transactions with no security names or anything. Spent several hours rebuilding everything so that my share quantities match what shows in Fidelity. Still get the message that Quicken can'c connect to my account, have to go through the authentication process and then once completed it duplicates all my holdings. What a mess.

That prompt to update the connection method was not a requirement. You had the opportunity to decline doing it at this time because starting 7/29 it is an optional change. It won't be a required change until 8/20. See the Alert that was posted about this: NEW! 7/30/25 Fidelity Cut-Over Migration.
As you've discovered and as is evidenced by the large number of users posting about it, this connection method update has been quite problematic for some.
You might want to consider doing what I and others have done: Restore a recent backup file from before when you updated the connection method. If you are prompted to update the connection method, again, decline it. This will buy you about 3 wks before the forced migration occurs. Hopefully most, if not all, of the issues will be resolved by then.

Need to add my complaints and frustrations to this. My two Fidelity accounts are showing zero balances in QfW. I have deactivated and reactivated both, and I only see the "Fidelity Investments" choice when I reactivate, not "Fidelity Investments DC" - Am I supposed to be seeing that? I have tried both Simple and Complete tracking. (Simple is fine for me.) Still zero balances every time I "successfully" reactivate. Very frustrating that something that was working fine is now not working at all.

With Quicken Desktop version R63.21 I am not offered "Fidelity Investments DC" nor any zzz connection when I try to set up one of my accounts again using "Account Details/Online/Set up now" or the config/set up download dialogue. I've made sure the institution was cleared first.
What am I missing?0 -
Help. Since updating the Fidelity Connection, my accounts are not updating. I've have deactivated online services to all my accounts and reactivated (Fidelity approved the connection of the accounts and Quicken linked them to my existing accounts), I've checked preferences don't automatically add to the register, and yes I know how to sort on date. This is very frustrating. I have Quicken Classic Deluxe for Windows.

You need to restore, from backup, your QDATA file from *BEFORE* you switched connection types. Do not reset or deactivate. When you run OSU, you should see an option to skip the switch (don't recall if it says "remind me later" or something else). Skipping this will result in the FI name change to zzz. It will still be a Direct Connection. Run OSU as normal. Once complete, verify the name change and run OSU again. It should no longer ask to switch. If it does, just skip again. I first switched Wednesday. Rolled back last Friday. Got prompted to switch at first. No longer get prompted.

I went to a backup from 7/23 which was prior to the event. My 7/29 backup may have been post new connection type.
This time it did not ask me to enable the new connection type and I'm connecting with the zzz one. Everything is working.2 -
My Tues., 7/29 Quicken database backup worked for me. I believe I got prompted to use the new connection method on Thurs., 7/31.
(I believe I got prompted to use the new connection method on Thurs., 7/31.) CORRECTION!!! Thurs., 7/31 was the first time I tried OSU with Fidelity that week. I usually only update Fidelity in Quicken once a week on Saturdays. I had some trades on Weds. that I wanted to see in Quicken, hence the Thurs. update.
The new connection method could have been offered earlier than 7/29 to folks who update Fidelity every day.

Hi @jimshu1,
Before you can start using any other connection methods you need to disconnect the existing method first. Otherwise it doesn't work.

Actually I got offered the zzz DC connection immediately after I restored my 7/29 database and updated it on Saturday. Everything is correct. No prompt for a new connection method.
I’m going to wait until the forum gives me a green light before I try OSU again with Fidelity. I’m not confident I’ll get an option to decline the new connection method.

There are >100 posts on this topic. So, Quicken can you clearly let everyone know if this problem downloading tranactions into Quicken from Fidelity is resolved or not? Kind of hard to determine without reading all the 100+ posts; some of which are off topic.
If so, what do users need to do to have Fidelity transactions download. As of this morning my transactions aren't downloading.

I agree with "Just Me and Not Someone Else".
Is there some bug or action report that we can track to get notified when the issue is resolved. It takes too much time to go through all these posts trying to find out what has been resolved with the issue.
As it appears for now, the comments I have read from many users are ways they are finding and providing work arounds to the problem, but I cannot find a comment from someone who actually works for Quicken that there is a problem and they are working to resolve it.

This undoubtedly all will take some time to resolve from Quicken & Fidelity side!

I had 7 accounts across 2 logins (mine & wife's) working fine. Was requested to do the connection update and it seemed to go OK. Added an 8th account (a CMA) and while trying to connect that one up, it failed to connect. I get the authentication screen - login and can check the box to allow downloads in the browser window. Returning to Quicken, that account does not show in the list of Fidelity accounts - so I can't connect that new account. I have tried disconnecting all accounts and re-connecting. Somehow, it connected the wrong Fidelity account to the Quicken account. Disconnected all again. Things are just messed up.

I have recently updated permissions for 6 Fidelity accounts and ALL OF MY BALANCES ARE WRONG!!!
I didn't change any data but everything is wrong.

Yeah - Look for the other discussions about Fidelity issues with the new connection method. Sounds like a major headache.

Please fix this. I have 11 accounts with Fidelity and the migration does not work correctly. it drops accounts, tells me accounts are deleted. Anyone else with issues?

@Quicken Kristina Please update on status of resolving problems with Fidelity. Your post on this issue (NEW! 7/30/25 Fidelity Cut-Over Migration) on July 30 is now 6 days old. Time is of the essence. If Quicken is not reliable then there will be mass migration to another platform.
