Downloaded investment transactions do not scroll down - have to manually scroll

I am still experiencing the transaction scrolling problem on investment accounts. I am using Quicken Classic Premier, R 60.14, Build 27.1.60.14, and just upgraded to a Windows 11 PC.

In the investment accounts, if there are a lot of downloaded transactions (e.g., 30 today), Quicken only scrolls through the first 10 or so, no matter how large I make the downloaded transactions box. I process the transactions individually, and so it becomes really time-consuming to have to scroll down to find the next transaction to process. This used to work, but not since I upgraded to a Windows 11 environment.

On the investment transaction side, there is no “hide accepted” button.

Is this a setting in Quicken that I can fix? (I did try googling but found nothing that fit.) Any ideas as to what to do?

Thanks.

When I encounter these issues, mostly in Win10, I was able to get a better working UI by running in Windows Compatibility mode. Right click on the Quicken.exe executable, then try other libraries. See below:

no. I don’t want to do things like that. I think quicken should work properly, and that I shouldn’t have to fudge things.

Could you please specify exactly how you are scrolling? Are you using the middle mouse wheel, dragging the scroll bar, using your keyboard down key, etc? Does trying different ways to scroll make any difference or do you experience the same issue regardless?

Also, could you please provide a screenshot? If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.

    Thank you!

I'm trying to understand exactly what you are seeing. Let me know if I have the situation correct.

You start accepting transactions from the Downloaded Transactions tab into the register.

As you accept transactions Quicken goes to the next transaction in the Downloaded Transactions tab. And if needed the Downloaded Transaction tab list should automatically scroll, but when it gets to 11th transaction it stops scrolling down. Is this correct?

Also, when you accept the 10th transaction, and it doesn't scroll, is the cursor now hidden (basically on the next line you can't see)?

you have it right except for the last sentence. When it gets to be too many, the cursor goes back almost to the top, to investment transactions already marked as accepted. I have to manually scroll down to get to the next unaccepted transaction.

OK, that was another way that I might have expected to mess up.

I tried to reproduce this, and I can't. I suspect that @M$D is going down the right path. In other words, it has something to do with the GUI and window scaling.

What is the resolution of your screen, and what is the Windows scaling set to (100%, 150%, …) and are you using Large Fonts in Quicken?

I had increased the size of the fonts in Quicken, and then brought it back to the default. Didn't help. Only thing that helped a bit was to increase the size of the box for downloaded investment transactions. If it's a windows scaling or screen resolution issue, why does it work just fine on the non-investment side?

The investment register code and the non-investment register code is vastly different.

I’m having this issue also. It’s not a font issue. It’s not some kind of Windows issue. This used to work correctly and recently (within a few months) it broke. Some code was changed.

Here’s another description of the issue:

Let’s say you have 35 downloaded investment transactions which means it’s several pages on the small downloaded transaction window. Let’s assume they are all stock sales. You click on the first transaction in the downloaded list and you specify your lots for that transaction and hit ENTER to accept it. The focus in the downloaded list will move to the next transaction without you putting your mouse in that window so you can stay in the register. You then specify your lots for the next transaction and hit ENTER and move to the next one. Everything is fine until you get to the last transaction displayed in the first page of the download window. At that point, once you process that transaction in the register then the focus DOES move to the first item on “page 2“ of the downloaded transactions HOWEVER the page view DOES NOT advance (I.e. page down) so you cannot see what item you’re working on. Although the correct item appears in the register and you are able to continue working in the register, it’s frustrating that you cannnot see that item in the download list nor see what items are coming after it. You can stop working and move down to the download list and manually scroll the download window to the correct position, however that slows down your workflow. The other risk also is that you could accidentally cause duplicate transactions to get entered into your register (especially once you reach the last transaction) because you can’t see what you’re working on in the download list.

Again, to be absolutely clear, this used to work differently. Please no one respond by saying this is normal or suggesting some bizarre configuration change.

The workaround I’m using is to choose “Accept All” which process investment transactions that are anything but SELL and then I close and reopen Quicken. The accepted transactions disappear and I can work on a page of SELL orders to specify lots manually. Once I do one page of downloaded transactions, I close and reopen Quicken again. The only reason why this workaround is possible is because I have an insanely fast machine - probably not realistic for everyone.

The Downloaded Trasnactions table does NOT automatically scroll. This is the whole issue. It used to do that and now it doesn’t.

I don’t see how this is a Windows issue. It’s not a display problem. Everything is working fine except the code that says “scroll the window” doesn’t seem to be working any more. If this is somehow a Windows issue, I didn’t change anything and therefore I can’t change it back. The problem exists for multiple people so it’s going to require a code change to fix.

@mikeweberatl I sidestep this issue a bit by extending the size of the transaction box. I can bring the top of the box up pretty high on the screen, and it goes to the next transaction as it should. I get a lot of transactions in the screen that way. Of course, I can still get more than the number that fit into the screen, but at least it's a bit better. Not a final solution, of course.

Oh, good suggestion. I didn't even try that because you used to not be able to do that (must be a relatively new feature.)

I encountered this issue with R60.15 just yesterday. I had a long list of investing transactions to review and accept, more than will fit in the Downloaded Transactions area. The Downloaded Transactions area has a scroll bar so that you can see more of the transactions waiting to be accepted. I am not using large fonts or anything unusual.

This process normally starts with the top transaction in the Downloaded Transactions area selected with an Accept button below it. I click on Accept and the focus moves to the next transaction, with the Accept button below it. I review that transaction and click on Accept again

The problem occurs when you have accepted all the transactions that fit in the viewing area. At that point the focus returns to the top transaction in the list and you must scroll down to see and accept the next unaccepted transaction. You must scroll farther and farther for each remaining transaction.

This need to scroll to get to each transaction after the first few is new.

Interesting that suddenly more people are seeing this problem. In the beginning, people hardly believed me. Hopefully Quicken will finally take a look at the problem.

I can confirm this issue has nothing to do with Windows. We did a fresh install of Windows 11 and, of course, reinstalled all our apps. Quicken reacted the same way. I improved a bit on my workaround by making Quicken full screen, and then I could raise the top bar of the investment transactions a bit more.
