Version 4.6.3 is now in staged release. If you want it, go update before they are all used up.

    Here are the release notes:

    Free Support 650-250-1900 (Mon-Fri, 5am-5pm Pacific)
    Online Chat.
Choose: Quicken About Quicken to find our Support number any time.

Update now to get the following improvementsVersion 4.6.0, 4.6.1, 4.6.2 & 4.6.3 (Critical Free Upgrade)

To prevent service interruption, update now.

As part of Quicken's separation from Intuit, we will be migrating a number of services from Intuit to the secure, Quicken Cloud. If you are not on the latest Quicken version by September 30th, you will lose the ability to...

    • Create a new file
    • Make changes to your account
    • Download transactions
    • Use the mobile app

    This is a free update

Version 4.6 has a number of feature and stability improvements.
    • NEW: The biggest change is the move to the new Quicken ID and Quicken cloud. After launching Quicken, you will be asked to create a new Quicken ID. You should be able to use the same email address and password that you used for your Intuit ID.
    • NEW: Quicken Connect transactions will now be delivered via the Quicken Cloud. Quicken will set up your accounts so your transactions continue to download without having to re-enter your banking credentials. This only affects Quicken Connect accounts.
    • NEW: As part of this change, Quicken Connect accounts will now download transactions in the background meaning you can continue use Quicken. Direct Connect accounts including all investment accounts do not currently download in the background.
    • NEW: Moved stock quote updates to download in the background.
    • NEW: Added support for multiple Cloud accounts using the same Quicken ID. This means you don't need different IDs for each file.
    • NEW: There's a new mobile app. You will need a new Quicken mobile app to continue seeing your data. Go to the app store associated with your mobile device to get the latest Quicken mobile app.
In addition to Quicken Cloud features, we also made improvements throughout the product.
    • NEW: Added the ability to set the sidebar to display online balances.
    • NEW: In preferences, you can now set the number of files to keep when auto-backing up. You can even set it to save all backup files.
    • IMPROVED: Added the ability to disconnect a web connect account.
    • IMPROVED: Added the ability to assign Quicken Bill Pay to an investment account.
    • IMPROVED: Improved the Loan view. In the header, we now display decimal places for the balance and added a drop down to switch between Today's, Projected and Online balances.
    • IMPROVED: Also in loans, the calculation has been improved for any loan where the compounding period is less than the payment period which is the case for auto loans. If auto loans didn't work for you in the previous release, try it again.
    • FIXED: Fixed an issue where loan balance adjustments weren't being added.
    • FIXED: Fixed the loan balance progress bar so it includes only what has been paid.
    • FIXED: Fixed a number of issues that would cause a crash.
    Version 4.6.1
    • IMPROVED: Improved sync and transaction download reliability.
    • FIXED: Fixed an issue that would temporarily impact balances of some accounts. A big thanks to Scott and Shane who helped us track down this issue.
    • FIXED: Fixed an issue that prevented bill pay transactions from being created if the payee name and description were longer than 32 characters. Only the payee name should have been included in the character count.
    Version 4.6.2
    • FIXED: Fixed an issue that caused false alert sync errors.
    Version 4.6.3
    • FIXED: Fixed the top 3 crashing issues that occurred during transaction downloads or Quicken Cloud sync.
    • FIXED: Fixed an issue where a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) screen wouldn't appear during an account refresh.
    • FIXED: Fixed an issue that was causing a false transaction sync error.
    • FIXED: Fixed an issue that occurred when a cloud account ID was lost. Quicken will now ask the user to set up a new cloud account.
    • FIXED: Fixed an issue where hidden and possibly closed accounts were set up on the Quicken Cloud but failed because the accounts no longer existed or the aggregation service no longer supported the financial institution. These accounts will now be automatically disconnected or removed from mobile sync.

After a small problem with Direct Connect accounts, mine is working well too.  Let's stop the unfair exaggeration and realize that we all want Quicken to work.  While fairly criticizing them for poor communication on certain issues, I'm very glad that Quicken is separating from Intuit and has demonstrated over the past 18 months the desire and ability to serve their customer base and provide a software product that we want and need to work.

Does 4.6 require Direct Connect accounts to be deactivated and reactivated? I ask because there's an ongoing issue with Citizens Bank new accounts not being able to be set up in 4.5.8. Pre-existing account setups continue to work fine. If deactivation is required, then it is likely that existing Citizens Bank Direct Connect account will not be able to be re-connected. This will break direct connect and bill pay for a fairly large number of users, I suspect.

Thanks for reporting this issue but I doubt it has anything to do with account connectivity.  It probably has more to do with our rewriting a lot of the investment code for 2018 to support explicit lot assignments, etc.  Concordman, I think you're in our beta program.  Have you submitted this issue and your file.  We would really like to take a look to see why your numbers changed.  That shouldn't happen.

Upgraded to v4.6 and I can no longer update any of my accounts via Accounts-> Update all Online accounts, even after spending an hour with support.  I Have to create new and then link each time for Capital One 360, There is an issue connecting to Emigrant Direct and I cannot update or add new for this bank.  This is so frustrating!

Migration is critical.  If you don't migrate, nothing will work.  We are hearing of reports in Care that a number of people are getting in a situation where they haven't migrated from an Intuit ID to a Quicken ID.  The way you'll be able to tell is if you go to Quicken.com and click on Sign In.  Enter your username or email and click the blue Sign In button.  If you are redirected to a web page with a URL that starts with  https://signin.quicken.com  you've been migrated.  If you are redirected to page where the URL starts with https://login.quickencs.com you are NOT migrated.  This is a good check.

By the way, Direct Connect hasn't changed so it shouldn't need any tweaks.  The only issue you may see is if you are connected to mobile sync.  If this is the case then Quicken needs to add your account in the cloud and we've seen some customers run into issues with this process because of MFA or other complicated account discovery issues.  A way to test if this is the issue is to turn off Mobile Sync in the preference dialog or to turn off syncing for the Direct Connect account where you're seeing errors.  Also, keep in mind that every connectivity issue is not connected to 4.6 or the new Quicken Cloud.  There are account connectivity issues on the old app too as many of you are aware.  It could just be a coincidence that you're seeing connectivity issues after upgrading.  In fact, if you look at past forums you'll see tons of people complaining about connectivity issues after upgrading even though we didn't change anything in this area in past releases.

Now Citibank credit cards stopped working too. Is there a way to delete the latest upgrade and go back to the previous version?

By the way, American Express stopped all transaction downloads from their site last week.  It had nothing to do with the Quicken upgrade.

    I received the QM2017 4.6.0/4.6.1 update this afternoon (2017-09-14).

There is a minor issue when launching QM2017 4.61 if one has an existing Quicken ID that is different from the Intuit ID used in your QM2017 4.5.8 database.  It complains when you enter your Quicken ID that the ID is already in use.  At least it does provide a second log in window that has a link at the bottom that allows you to use your existing Quicken ID.

My biggest issue with QM2017 4.6.1 is the asynchronous background updates.  There is no positive indication that Quicken has completed any task that the user has initiated.

Without any positive indication that Quicken has completed an operation, I find that I now have to log into my credit union's and brokerage's web sites to determine whether Quicken has downloaded all of the transactions that occurred.

What once took one or two minutes now takes five to ten minutes.

Quicken could have spent some time fixing all of the bugs that remain in the investment logic.  When will the Day's Gain/Loss be reported correctly?  The amount reported is always wrong when the investment account(s) hold shares of Unit Investment Trusts, shares of an investment -grade CD, US Treasury and GSE bonds.

What about Quicken's assumption that all dividends and interest are taxable income?  The TXF files generated by Quicken are simply wrong due to these assumptions.

I'm not sure I understand the complaint about syncing in the background.  It would have taken the same amount of time in the past but you'd be blocked from doing anything in Quicken.  I think this is better. Is your thought that it would be faster in the foreground.  That's not true.  Also, only Quicken Connect accounts syncs in the background.  Direct Connect is still in the foreground and blocks everything.

In regards to the blue dot on the sidebar, it should be working like it did before.

We did change the date behavior in the Account Status window.  It used to update all of the dates based on the last download regardless of whether any transactions were downloaded or not.  Now we show you the last date that your account updated so it's more accurate.  Now in your particular case in regards to a matched transaction and how we treat them, I don't know the answer.  I do know we've had a lot of discussions about it because it's a special case where I think technically we may not be able to tell if it's a "new" transaction or not.  I don't recall all of the details.  By your comment, it sounds like you expected it to be considered a new transaction.

Version 4.6.2 (build 46.19020.100) was pushed to my laptop last night. But when I tried to upgrade my desktop this morning (which has version 4.5.8, build 45.17542.100) the software says it is the latest version available. Of course, since the data file has been upgraded in the laptop update, it can no longer be read by the desktop. I tried chatting with a customer service agent (case number 01109715) but he keeps on insisting that "the latest version that we have for the Quicken 2017 for Mac is Version 4.5.6 (6/2017)." Now he has gone offline!!

By the way, if you run Quicken on multiple computers and use Quicken sync to update your transactions on both machines, this transition will be made a lot easier if you take a copy of your migrated and working Quicken file and move it to the second machine instead of trying to upgrade that file on the second machine separately.   Upgrading the 2 machines separately will result in 2 datasets that don't talk to each other.  We don't want to try to merge your files in the cloud so we always create a second dataset.  Copying your migrated 4.6 file to the second machine and running it there will just work and sync will continue without issues.

OMG! Quicken is testing releases on live production users?  Had I read this thread earlier I would never have upgraded, but the in product prompt said it was required?!  This is total amateur hour.

I personally have over 40 accounts from lots of big banks and financial institutions such as  Wells Fargo, Chase, Fidelity, Schwab, TD Ameritrade, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Ally and Quicken Loans and all are working flawlessly on Quicken 4.6.  Like I said, connectivity issues have to do with people's specific banks and types of accounts, etc.  Believe me, Quicken works for the majority of people on all of the top banks but there are always going to be individual situations that may prevent an account from working.  Just because someone says they can't add Chase doesn't mean everyone at Chase can't add their account. It means this particular individual for whatever reason can't add Chase.  We're reviewing all of the logs people are sending us and for a lot of people the error we're seeing is incorrect credentials.  In other words, it has nothing to do with Quicken.  They just need to enter the right password.  That's not to say there aren't any issues.  We're working on them as fast as we can.  I'm adding status updates in my original posts so you can see the fixes we've put in.  People should see if it fixes their particular issue. We are tracking and reviewing all of the errors people are running into and are constantly comparing it to the previous release.  Sync errors are actually below the previous release.  Account aggregation is higher but we're seeing a big improvement with the latest Quicken Cloud update on the 18th.

jamesking89, I've heard there were issues in the mobile app with balances and there's a new mobile app that fixes it but I don't see it in the app store yet.  It should be soon.

@Quicken Marcus am I understanding this correctly that, aside from the registration process for each data file, it is possible to use the Cloud to sync 2 data files on separate machines? I was always under the impression that sync was only between Mobile and Desktop, not Desktop and Desktop. Please confirm/clarify.

    • Create a new file
    • Make changes to your account
    • Download transactions
    • Use the mobile app

    This is a free update

Version 4.6 has a number of feature and stability improvements.

    • NEW: There's a new mobile app. You will need a new Quicken mobile app to continue seeing your data. Go to the app store associated with your mobile device to get the latest Quicken mobile app.
In addition to Quicken Cloud features, we also made improvements throughout the product.

"We did change the date behavior in the Account Status window.  It used to update all of the dates based on the last download regardless of whether any transactions were downloaded or not.  Now we show you the last date that your account updated so it's more accurate."

Marcus, I don't understand this change. Correct me if I'm wrong. It seems to take away an important verification without adding any functionality. Although I have generally ignored the date there are times that it was useful. In the past I have used the date to be sure that Quicken properly quarried the website looking for new transactions. If there are new transactions the blue dot was what I looked for to know that I should look closer to see what was downloaded. Is there some benefit to this that I am not seeing (no it is NOT more accurate unless you redefine what the "accurate" answer to Account Status Update should be)? The Details column does a fine job of reporting whether the "Account Update" by Quicken resulted in any new transaction downloads.

I vote to change back to the old "Account Status" behavior. Why make users relearn/change how they use the program without any benefit and with added confusion?!

Marcus, the release notes indicate the added ability to disconnect a web connect account. Where is it? We've been waiting a long time for a promised fix for this problem. No sign of it in 4.6.3

I'd just add my own 2 cents to this thread.

None of my credit card accounts will now update properly with 4.6.3. I've disconnected and reinstalled them multiple times, although I have not tried to create totally new accounts and datafiles yet. Institutional cards not updating include:

    Chase
    Bank of America
    American Express

This is really disappointing as the most important convenience feature of Quicken is to automatically download these transactions.

Please fix or tell me how I can fix.
